Default Conduit site technical help for Wordpress template

My son and I are trying to put together our first conduit site with Chris Rempel's
wordpress templates. This is the first time we've done anything with website
building--Wordpress or any other.
Does anyone know if there are any compatibility issues with Wordpress 2.6.5
with his conduit wordpress templates?
The problem we seem to have is that the "Add new field" and "Add new box"
buttons don't work. And since we really need these, we're stuck.

Thanks for any help you send our way!

Are you using IE? I believe there is a know bug with IE. Chris recommends using Firefox.

Shoot. I just tried updating to 2.6.5 and I don't think it likes the more fields plugin. Totally locked out of my blog now. 500 server config error Blogs gone.

Hopefully one of the wordpress experts around here will have some ideas.

I am just jumping in an answer your question.

It is a theme.

MarketerGuy~

Conduit here means a methodology developed by Chris Rempel--
kind of a twist on review sites.
The problem some of us are having has to do with the WP templates
we got from CR (which many have already used with great success)
and a seeming glitch with the latest WP version (2.6.5).
The templates were specifically made when 2.5.1 was the current
WP version. Hope I said all that right.
HTH~

From the way you're describing it, it sounds as if the issue might be with the "more fields" plugin that comes with the package.

This is a fairly new product (that he's still selling) and Chris has awesome support, so I suspect he'll post an answer (fix) soon.

Chris Rempel's Conduit is a theme that works with the More Fields plugin. Therefore there are three things in play here, the theme itself, Wordpress 2.6.5 and the More Fields plugin... they all have to play together nicely. My suspicion is there is a disconnect between the More Fields plugin and Wordpress 2.6.5.

Have you submitted a request for help on Chris Rempels support? They are very quick to respond.

Also, you may want to check out labs.dagensskiva.com More Fields, the developer of More Fields.

Good luck!

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to add an update to this - the "more fields" plugin seems to work best with the older versions of WP.

Some people have had it work with the latest WP, but if it just isn't working out, try using an older version at:

Thanks!

Chris,

The More Fields plugin has been updated to a newer version than you had originally released with your WP conduit theme. More Fields is now at version 1.2.3 and is compatible with Wordpress 2.7.

I am have all the fields working except the add images field. It just puts a big red x there. So I am adding images to the middle of my text and not worrying about having the image on the side.

The problem is in IE I still see a red X where the picture should have gone even though I have removed the image Green Fields section and am not uploading an image.

Where would I tweak the WP theme to remove where it is waiting for an image so the red X does not show up.

I have spent many hours trying to fix this 6 minute as Chris calls it WP theme installation...
