    It needs to be content that people want, and that is relevant. If its just a boring video then no one will care. People are always looking for quality and engaging content, this includes your youtube videos. Try and make it personable without being unprofessional. When it pays off, it pays off big!

    Generally, videos go viral when they are entertaining. However, you need to think about it. Just because your video is entertaining, doesn't mean that you are going to get more sales. For example, "Quentin" referred to the: Blentec and the "Will it Blend" channel above. That is an excellent example of a video going viral and bringing brand awareness, but only Blentec know if that viral brand awareness is leading to more sales.

    My philosophy is that you should focus on your niche market by providing informative videos, which feature your product in action. For example, if your business sells hardware supplies, you can create videos which show people how to complete common projects, which prominently display your hardware supplies in action.

    I feel that a strategy which focuses on getting your products in front of an interested viewers in a subtle, soft-sell manner, is more effective that your video going viral to people who find it entertaining, but have no interest in purchasing your product.

    That was my thought.

    It's something you found entertaining and want to pass along to your friends and family. You've gotta see this, it's sooooo funny! lol

    Many viral videos are just a modern version of the TV show Americas Funniest Home Videos. The reasons why videos were popular on that show are the same reasons why a lot of videos go viral.

    You asked for a top 3 list so I'll try to take a stab at it,
    1. does the video connect with an audience?
    2. is the video entertaining?
    I couldn't think of a third reason.
