On Blogs What Should You Spend The Most Time On?

I have been running my blog for over a year now with some success however I am looking to take it to the next level and outsource some of the SEO work for it.

The part I don't get is this. Should I be spending more time backlinking the main domain or ranking each post for a keyword?

I have been pretty successful primarily backlinking to specific posts with the anchor text I want that page to rank for, plus some variations thereof. In addition to building backlinks to the individual posts, make sure your post titles are keyword optimized and your blog's permalink structure is correct (ie, don't leave it at the default with the "p=number" in the title).

Remember though, for the long term, it is all about tons of good, original content people want to read.

Hey Sean technically both. but think about it this way. THE LIFEBLOOD OF A BLOG IS DRUMROLL PLEASE>>>>>>>>>CONTENT (YAY) LOL so articles RULE thus your only as good as your content.

Meaning focus on building links to your pillar content. Your pillar content is what you KNOW people liked most and was also foundational to helping your visitors. PS of course that the first secret (I know there are no secrets LOL) to creating products that sell>>>popular content.

I hope this clarifies or at least helps LOL
