Distributing software rules?

So I figure I should entice people to sign up for my blogs mailing list by offering them free e-courses that teach the basics of how a computer works. I also want to offer "bundled" third party software so the luddites who sign up will be able to easily use the tools I mention in my posts. The problem is I don't know if I can just download a bunch of software and send it to them. I won't attempt to make any money from that bundled software or anything and everyone will get proper credit and links to the sites the software came from. Can I do this, or do I need to contact the software owners?

Take care, you certainly could end up involved in a lawsuit. There are legit "free software" sites offering limited, evaluation vewrsions of applications, you might look into their arrangement with software makers. You might end up being to provide a list of download links for valuable freebies without having to host the files yourself.

If it were me, I would get permission before doing anything like that.

So long as the software is for free, they probably won't mind....but some people like to make sure everything is on the up and up before you do that.

And down the road.....they might jv on a launch with you.
