==> Ahead of Google Slaps <==

Hi Warriors!

Have you ever wondered why Google changes it algorithm every now and then? Why your lens that had been riding the #1 spot for the last 50 bisquillion years actually lost its position for a given keyphrase?

Sure, we would all love to have that first spot for any given keyphrase in Google... But Google is constantly SLAPPING you and me!

Well not me, at least! Because as a lot of warriors know I am an engineering student and my first cousin is working as a strategic engineer (just so to speak) at Google. And here's a breakdown of why Google has to SLAP!

(==>And btw this is very true of the other SE's as well<==)

...I'll put it from a business man's point of view and not a very mathematical one, its logical...

1. Google has a business (and that's Earth-SHATTERING News... )
2. That is to search for the most relevant content anywhere on the internet with regard to a particular keyphrase that their "customers" are typing in...

[[[Start seeing my point already? Google is more concerned with satisfying their customers who are NOT the CPC advertisers but the people who USE Google to search for content]]]

3. They will basically do everything in power to actually give their "customers" the MOST relevant content related to the searched phrase or word!

HOW DOES THIS MATTER TO YOU?

Well, it won't matter unless you want SE organic traffic which btw is a very small fraction of the overall traffic you can get! But here's one way...

And I am Actually TELLING THE NEXT GENERATION OF SEO HERE... So please bear with me!

Here's a phrase that's going to be obsolete in a year, maybe two... "Slanting a piece of content towards a particular keyphrase by sprinkling a more of it; a lot of it where every you can within that piece if content" Which basically means writing an article on a particular topic with the aim of getting ranked in SE's high up when someone searches for that keyphrase.

Right now, SE's are using "Key word Indexing" which basically means they rank the relevance of content based on the specific keywords that appear in it with high frequency and Title, Bolded text etc are given more weightage.

But this is what they are losing out on as far as their "Customers" are concerned. When people search for "Website Traffic", they see some pieces of content that are basically ranked high with respect to the same keyword... "Website Traffic".

But does that mean a piece of content that has been written keeping central the keyword "Online Visitors" can never be relevant for this search?

Of course it can be. And Search engines have wised to this fact! And let me tell you- "THEY ARE REALLY WORKING ON IT".

What will they do?

They will switch to an algorithm (already begun) where they can measure the "SEMANTIC" distance between two key phrases or keywords. So "Website Traffic" and "Online Visitors" are semantically closer while "Website Traffic" and "New York Traffic" are not.

And "Article traffic" and "Free Targeted Traffic" will be semantically closer key phrases which will be semantically distant to "Online Advertising Traffic" or "PPC traffic".

You get the idea...

So why the heck am I even telling this to you?

Three reasons:

2. I'll start with second....I'm CRAZY, I know. But this algorithm...It is known as LSI... and it is the next gen of SEO. Definitely it is. So start "Not" worrying about the keyphrase slanting and sprinkling rather focus on the value delivered in the article(or whatever it is). Because I know the mathematical and logical side of LSI, I can tell you LSI will "really" change the relevance measurement, and only the content that will contain "BEST VALUE" will stay on top. Relevancy is measured by LSI as well as it is done by SE's.

More on that a bit later

What does a marketer ideally do? create content so valuable (look at this post itself) that people would rather pay for it and be happy, and then give away all that information free! that's the best way to win hearts and wallets.

3. You post content on Ezine Articles.com .And lets say it gets ranked on the first page of Google for a keyword which has 100 daily searches on average. But remember, there are other links as well. You know the other organic results and 13 Adwords ads (that's the maximum, so lets be prepared to tackle with the worst case)

So there is a "Real world" probability of your article being see just about 4 times if 100 searches are made everyday.

And then they are headed to your...err Article Directory site. Might read your article, might not read your article. Depends upon the article itself.

Even if they read all the way through and your article Plus Sig are just perfect, only half of them will actually reach your website! And your website isn't converting at 100%. Right? Even if you are giving something FREE.

What do you do?

I. Well, create content.
II. Post it on your blog.
III. Wait for Google to crawl your blog (mine gets crawled every few days because I post once every few days... Moral of the story... Post regularly and don't ever change the frequency of posting. If you MUST, then do so gradually. SE's don't like it when its irregular even if it is regularly updated... the reason is simple- the owners of SE's want the spiders to work as effectively as possible. And that is possible only if spiders "know" *where to go* and *when to go*. most people just think in terms of "Where to go" and ignore the part *When to go* which is a MAJOR REASON OF GOOGLE SLAPPING YOU AT THE BACK OF YOUR HEAD)
IV. Once you know the spiders have crawled after you posted that content, THEN SUBMIT it to other places like Article Directories and Squidoo and even FORUMS (Which is what I did with this post)

this way you are ensuring that content is spreading around, but SE's know that your website is the first place where this "content" was posted so it is most relevant for the keywords / phrases that this piece is relevant to.

HOPE, I'm not confusing you.

AND NOW THE FIRST REASON FOR ME POSTING THIS BIT OF CONTENT...

1. It basically makes your blog something which is known as "AUTHORITY SITE". SE's will never know that you have been posting that content everywhere on the internet yourself. they just know this-

"A piece of content is posted on XYZ blog. Two days later, it is all over the internet. Article sites, Myspace Blogs, Wordpress blog, Forums, Squidoo, Hubpages" etc... Basically everywhere the content has been posted and is linking back to your website where it was first posted. So your website is the most relevant site for the content and keywords related to that piece of content. So this website (your blog where it was posted first of all, is the AUTHORITY SITE where other sites draw content from)"

Whats even better is that since you are posting content out on a regular basis which is basically related to the same niche, your website actually becomesw highly relevant once you have 100 or 200 pieces of content posted out like this.

My advice, start out slow and then build it up.

Does it matter?

You judge for yourself, but bear in mind that Google is actually shifting to LSI and I havew done a course on that already in my engineering institute.

So what do you do?

When you are posting content to other places on the internet, randomize the process. Don't just go out after 48 hours of posting it on your blog and submit it to all other places in just the space of a few minutes. Instead post somewhere today. And else where tomorrow.

Think you could beat Google to it in any way easier than that?

I don't think so.

I'd appreciate response.

          lakshaybehl,

That lack of response has nothing to do with the length of your post, but is about the content itself.

We've known, or at least most of us know this information already. It's almost common knowledge. Matter of fact I wrote an ebook about this subject about a year and a half ago.

            Hi Mary!

            Agree with you on that!

But I am pretty sure not everyone knows about it. Sure you know about it, and so do a lot of seniors. But there are newbies joining us everyday! And as they say... the new batch is coming through!

I was just kinda tryin to help them!

This is something to really consider, I keep hearing about LSI and never really took the time to learn more about it, but it seems that it will become more and more prominent in Google's algorithim

            Hey lakshaybehl,

I think your post was really good. And I appreciated the information that you brought. I don't know how many people really know about this, but if it is common knowledge there are still a lot of seo newbies that come to this forum that will find it very informative.

What I liked about it is that you wrote it in a way that makes sense. A lot of times there are discussions on how to get ranked well but no one tells why the method their giving advice about really works or the theory behind it. I know no one really knows how Google thinks. But I did like how you made it very easy to learn for someone that might not be that seo savvy. Again, great posts.

              Hey Brad!

Thanks for your kind commments! SEO is in itself a tough nut to crack. And getting to the top ten of Google isn't going to be easier or more difficult (whatever the case may be) depending upon the quality of content that you provide ... rather WE provide! So stay on top of the game by being newbie friendly!

            great post!

Sure, people have been talking about LSI here and there for a year or so.. but you went way beyond just that

When 99% of all info, posts, etc out there regarding keyword research, article writing, and so forth are not doing what you just described, then I have to disagree with Mary when she says most people here already know (let alone apply) this.

              Hey Jason!

You made me chuckle... even blush a lil! Thanks for those comments...

And maybe one of the reason Mary says that is (And I'd agree with her if that is the case)- SEO is one of the MANY things and certainly not the be all and end all!

But yes the recent posts about Squidoo slaps and such are simply proof enopugh that Google is headed "there" now faster than ever!

Could you imagine the chaos that would arise if thousands of large authority and ecommerse sites fell out the serps caused by a sudden algo change. hehe

So your cousin works at google? geez id so love to know someone on the inside.

                  Sure Bob!

They will make changes slowly. In fact this is the way they go about it...

Making a change once in a few days.

And yeah... its a little helpful knowing someone working with Google. But not very much, because netiher is Google my main source of traffic, nor of income. Its just one of the many sources.

This is fascinating stuff for sure. I've been studying LSI and NLP (Natural Language Processing) for several months now and this is surely the next generation of SEO.
