EzineArticles- A Sign To Come

I submitted an article to EA on March 2,2011. And as of today 3/9/2011, it is still sitting in Queue. Actually not anymore, I just deleted it and submitted it elsewhere.

Now I understand that EA is trying to pull itself out of the gutter with Google. But if this is a sign to come, I will go elsewhere.

Any thoughts?

    I was just thinking this!

I have 4 articles waiting, the earliest was submitted on the 2nd March. I'll just wait a bit longer I think.

What level of author are you? Basic, Basic Plus or Platinum? Even if you're a Platinum author, you could be cutting off your nose to spite your face by deleting it and submitting elsewhere. If you get a good amount of traffic which lead to visitors to your website(s), sales and opt-ins, waiting a few days to get an article approved shouldn't be much of an issue, in my opinion.

I see. Waiting a week plus to get an article approved is frustrating, yes, but if you get benefits from your article then it's surely worthwhile. After all, it is free to submit to EZA. Besides, I'm sure the approval times will speed up - they are getting things in order after the whole Google Algorithm change

when I submit an article, it is never in the 400 word arena. I keep them at 1,000 words plus and this really helps my ranking with Google.

I hear of a lot of people being dropped in the rankings but try a 2,000 word article and you'll see it has a lot more "stick" to it in the search rankings.

Personally I have stopped adding any articles to ezine at the moment until the dust settles a bit more after the recent update.

Mine also took a few extra days. I don't mind the wait if it means that our articles will hold a little more weight these days. Ezine was getting a little bad there for a while and looking like a cheap article spin farm. I am glad they are tightening back up. It should help us all in the long run.

I've noticed that my articles are taking longer to get approved as well. It's no big deal though, I can do plenty of other things while I'm waiting.

It has been a bit annoying getting them approved though. I got flagged for not having enough content on my landing page from a link.

I also got a 700 word article flagged for not having enough informative content. Personally, I thought it had plenty

Not to worry, as EZA are not the only game in town.

I have had 2 articles submitted 25 Feb with 750 words+ still waiting review.
I have no problem waiting as i also submit on other directories.
What i don't like is inconsistency, i did a quick check of other articles in the same category, i found quite a few articles 400-450 words which were IMO poor quality articles but they were submitted and approved within 5 days?

That has me a bit

I think they are really taking there time with approvals and I am willing to wait. Like Wills said, got a lot of other thing to do.

In the long run, if they scrutinize a little more and get a better ranking in google it will actually be a benefit to everyone. Rising tide floats all ships, right.

Even if it takes a few weeks to be approved, I don't think it's a huge issue.

All the articles will be there for a number of years.

As long as you have a constant flow of content something will be approved each day.

I hate to say I told you so, but I told you so. Folks, it is a waste of your time to use eza. Please go with another service. They are now talking about using pink link no follow on your pages. Fact is that you need to save money. That means no ppc. Also, you need to save time -so that means no eza.

I hope lots and lots of people believe you (unlikely though I think that is - people have probably noticed that the forum's full of successful, professional article marketers using EZA as part of the way we make our living, and welcoming all the recent changes, which are in our favour and which some of us had been calling for, for a long time). But hey ... the less competition I get, the better. :p

        Very true.

But I would qualify it and say that you giving advice to the average WF article-marketer to stick with EZA is like Yo Yo Ma saying everyone should keep struggling with the Cello...

For somewhere between 50-75% of all marketers who were submitting articles without a problem prior to the new guidelines, EZA is definitely a waste of their time moving forward.

        Maybe even higher.

For them the best advice I could give would be to quit, move on from article directories, and find another way to drive traffic and/or backlinks. Or pay a professional to do the work for you.

That large majority group just aren't going to get their work published, and massive multi-week delays for their submissions will become the norm.

Unless they're willing to study their craft, genuinely learn what it means to write quality articles, and become experts at research and/or the topic they're discussing, EZA won't be a positive use of their time.

If you're Platinum, have never had an issue with a submission being denied, always submit articles that you personally researched and created 100% from scratch using your own words, AND, you're a true authority on the subjects you cover, then absolutely whether the storm and stick with it.

If you're in a hurry to get the content circulating, don't neglect the basics like publishing to your own blog with RSS feed and / or website, and then ping, tweet and Facebook it, etc. Then submit a secondary version to directories.

              Exactly so.

              It's kind of weird.

People seem to imagine - for some reason never quite clarified - that if it takes 6 days instead of 2 days, that's some huge disadvantage?

If you submit 2 articles per day to EZA, then however quickly or slowly they publish them, they're still going to be publishing 60 of your articles every month. Where's the problem?

For sure. Just keep writing a steady stream of articles, and those extra five days or so will come and go, and some of your content will be published every day thereafter. If you have a daily quota for article publication, spread your submissions out to other directories.

                  This is rather weird.

I've submitted 20-ish articles this month and around 14 are accepted. 6 are still in queue but they were submitted on or after 7th March. I've not experienced any delays as such.

As others have said, though, you might want to give them some time as it obviously is a big setback for them. My articles were nowhere near 750 words, but they were above 500.

There was initial talk of them going with a no-follow link but they have since changed their mind on that. This was about a week ago so unless a new change was discussed they will still allow do-fllow links in the author's resource box.

There are still authors able to generate traffic from EZA and syndication will always be a strong point with them so to tell folks not to use them would be a mistake.

The best advice is to incorporate other sites into your article marketing campaigns and not just rely on EZA which so many people have done for a long time.

      Respectfully,
      Tim

My take on it is that there is nothing wrong with relying on article directories and the like as long as you're not *too* dependent on them for backlinks.

I completely agree. You don't need EzineArticles or even article directories, for that matter, to implement an effective backlinking strategy. Articles are a great source of perpetual traffic. Even if resource box links are no follow, this does not make them entirely useless. But even if it did, the ROI from submitting a highly informative article, in the terms of traffic generation, will always be worthwhile.

I submit one article per day to EZA since 2007. They delayed an entire week to approve my articles, while they usually approve each article the next day or the same day. Yesterday my 7 pending articles were approved at the same time.

I’m going to help EZA have the best ranking online. This is a very powerful article directory. Instead of considering this wonderful free traffic generating method dead, you should care about writing quality articles and submitting them to EZA so that it may get back the position it had online.

EZA is my best free traffic generating method because I'm an expert and a real author. Google is sending a lot of traffic to my websites, I'm glad, but I also want to have a lot of traffic from my articles published at EZA like before.

Even though in the past many links from all my articles were sending regular daily traffic to my websites, and even though I only write original content, I see at statcounter many links from Google but only a few links from my articles. This is very strange. All my articles provide the public with unique content. They should remain at the top. This sudden change provoked a big damage to EZA’s system. We must do something to help this wonderful article directory keep sending a lot of traffic to our websites.

I’m going to keep writing the best content I can, everyday, as always.

I believe you should have the same attitude. Instead of abandoning EZA because now you cannot submit your ridiculous spun articles, write original and decent content. Be honest.

If you hate writing and you have no talent, never mind. Pay a ghostwriter to write unique content on your behalf, the same way you pay a webmaster to build your websites if you know nothing about html codes.

Writing is an art that depends on many difficult techniques. Instead of abandoning article marketing, purchase excellent content that will keep sending traffic to your websites for years to come, without further investment. Many of the first articles I published at EZA in March of 2007 are still sending daily traffic to my websites until today. I don’t want to lose this fantastic free traffic generating method. I want to see EZA at the top again.

I had a question about writing review articles, sent on Sunday. They replied today with a straight forward answer. I thought I might try my luck asking about my second-ever article being stuck in the midst of their difficult week.

I got a response back within a couple of hours at most. He said he saw my article moving along like it should and that I should feel welcome to continue submitting articles as I liked.

So yeah, you write it and polish it up, keep doing it, and eventually something will come out the other side. Didn't seem like they had any problem with you feeding the pipe continuously - even now following probably their "worst week ever".

The front end (getting approved) is whatever it takes. The back end (having it published) is as always, indefinite. So, you lose a few days off the front end and none off the back end.

I suppose it's a catch-22 for IM beginners with article marketing. It seems the good old days are quickly vanishing, so we may need to search newer methods. On the other hand, hopefully people will learn from this and not have all of their business in one place.

For what it's worth, it's been slow with me and will arbitrarily say that some articles need more original content.

look at it this way: If it takes your article 7 days to get approved, but it keeps working for you, in all the ways EZA articles do, for 2 - 4 years, does the extra 4 days really make too much difference? If that's what it takes to benefit all of us who use article marketing and EZA, then it seems like a pretty darn fair trade off. If they make no changes and G keeps penalizing them, that not only hurts them, but any of their authors as well.

I have my 779 articles approved in the ezine and all contain my links. If ezine is taking steps to make increase its worth than I will get direct benefit from this act of EA as my links will carry more worth if they are coming from a quality website. I believe that internet marketing is game of patience which you need to keep if you want good results. Ezine is now doing a very deep review of every article to ensure the quality so surely it will take time but they will approve ir disapprove article maximum after a week or 10 days.
