Devilish time with this Squeeze Page

Sorry, but I am having a hard time with getting my Squeeze Page up and going. I guess this is a result of not putting in my dues earlier in Life and learning more about Computers. Its almost caused me to throw in the towell with IM and more specifically Product Creation.

Anyway, do you need to buy a domain solely for the Squeeze Page ??

And still unsure about Filezilla and the whole FTP thing. The right side is what is on your computer and the left is what is on you Hosting, right ?? Well what do you do after that ??

Its still confusing even after a fellow Warrior was so nice enough to do a video for me

It's not as much about computers per se... as it is about the WEB. The www. The internet.

If you want others to see it... yes.
Or it can be placed on an existing domain.
EVERYTHING that is visible on the web/internet/www must be a page on a domain somewhere...

Usually, it is the other way around:
    - left = your computer (don't you recognize the folder/files structure that is otherwise visible using the Windows Explorer?)
    - right = the server of your host.

FTP = File Transfer Protocol... and it does just that: transfers files and folders from your computer to the host and vice-versa.

I used to get confused about stuff liek this all the time. It took me a bit to get straightened out, and I am still not a super technical person.

A squeeze page is just a page on your website, its an html file or a wordpress db entry the same as anything else. there is nothing special about the contsrtuction of it.

Squeeze page is a phrase that tells what that page on your website does.

If you wnat your squeeze page to be the first thing thta people see on your site when they go there, you have a couple of options.

You can buy a separate domain name that has nothing on it except your squeeze page setup as the home page of that site and then use your optin form to send the visitors where you want them to go.

You can also set up your main domain with a squeeze page as the home page and then send your visitor to another page on your site.

You could use one of those lighbox signups liek te one aweber has or that optin domination program.

Or you could just have a page on your site somewhere as your optin page and promote that page. Like if you were partcipatin in a giveaway event you could send the people there to that page on your site.

FTP in general shows your computer on the left side and your website on the right.

If you want the squeeze page as your homepage you have to title the squeeze page html file as index with whatever extension you are using to build your site. Generally, this is html or htm or php.

If you are using a wp blog, just make your squeeze page a static page and set it up to be the homepage in your settings dashboard.

So can I take the Squeeze Page File on left hand side in Filezilla and just drop and drag it to ANY pre existing domain on the right hand side and this will make the address for the squeeze page which I then can retrieve and can work with and it can eventually be seen by the World ???

        Short answer: yes.

Longer version: if that (squeeze) page file - I assume it's a html or php file contains references to other files, i.e. images, stylesheet etc. those must be uploaded, too.

If you have a domain example.com and you upload the whatever.html file in the root (=base) directory, your stuff should be visible at
        example.com/whatever.html

In case you create a directory/folder in the root of example.com... like
/devilish/ AND you upload the file into that - then your page will be visible at
        example.com/devilish/whatever.html

When I download the squeeze page and click on the Squeeze Page icon it reads

          content File folder
          CSS File folder
          edit File folder
          howto File folder
          images File folder
          plain_html File folder
          index.php PHP FIle 2KB No
          layout Text Document 1KB No
          README Text Document 1KB No
          video.php PHP File 2KB No

What do I do as far as Uploading this?
Can I just Upload the main file at EPB_v1.3.zip(2).zip and combine it with a Site on the right hand side??

          Thanks again so much !!!!

P.S How do I know whether this is an HTML file or whatever kind of file. And in general how do you tell and why do you need to know ??

When you log into your site through your FTP program, you may not be in the correct folder to put your files. You need to find out from your server provider what the correct folder to put your files is.

Example: If you are using host gator you will need to put your files in the "public_html" folder.

Call up tech support and ask them to direct you to the right place if you do not know. They love to helps.

I always start with the README text document and do what it says: READ ME!

You really need a quick course in web basics...

NO! Do not upload the zip file and "combine" is not a word we use when it comes about uploading web pages....

Sorry , I README and it says :

      Upload To Your FTP:
Once you have downloaded your SqueezePro zip file located
above. All you need to do is open up your FTP client of choose,
and drag & drop the folder into your site, and your ready to go!

So do I need to drag each of those files I listed above (CSS,Edit, How to,images plain_html etc..) and upload to a site on the right of filezilla ??

Btw Istvan you are absolutely right !! I need a Web Basics course as I am pathetic
