What to do when your blog hits a traffic "plain"?
There are not more things that are more annoying than a traffic plain. Under a "plain" I mean: you are trying to increase traffic, but you can't. This happened to me, as you can see from my stats:
But then as you can see my traffic numbers came to a big growth. So how did I do this? It's very easy:
1. Try to find the reason.
Look back and try to figure out the cause of this happening. Maybe there were holidays in the past months? If no, then look at your subscribers number. Did it drop significantly? If no, then leap forward to the next step.
2. Don't stop promoting...
Use forums (like warriorforum.com and forums.digitalpoint.com) and don't forget about social media. I did this and as you can see on the image, it worked. I basically use Facebook (127,510,914 unique visitors/month) and Twitter (27,985,892 unique visitors/month).
These social networking sites can create nice traffic spikes for your site.
But when struggling with a this kind of problem, you are fighting for each pageview. So also use LinkedIn (16,439,724 unique visitors/month), MySpace (43,601,320 unique visitors/month) and Hi5 (1,818,099 unique visitors/month).
These are also good to get a steady flow of traffic.
Well if I could sum up this in a phrase, I would say this: "Rinse and repeat"
I hope this will help when you are stuck with the same problem.
Did this happen to you before? What did you do?
Have a nice day.
