Methods you would use to break into a new market

I run a couple of websites devoted to the crafts, one is consistently at 3/4 on Google.
My market are hobbiest crafts people.
At the moment 90% of our sales comes from the UK, I am based in France.
I am now mainly interested in attracting folk from the USA.
I have rounded down the postal charges for USA customers, they pay the same as the UK postage rate.
I am thinking of hard copy advertising in relevant crafts publications, but I wonder how you would think of doing this.
