reverse auto reponder

Does anyone know if there is such a thing as what I have described below.

If not then i may need to get one written

I want to set a date into the future, and have the responder work backwards from that date, sending out sequential emails.

For example a moving company would log on and enter the date of a customers move, then the responder would count back to the present day, and then start sending a sequence of emails leading towards the actual moving day, providing a reminder service

If anyone can point me in the right direction, that would be great

Thanks

    That is a great idea.

You could have reminders about redirecting your post, packing up non-essentials, progressing right towards to the actual move date ensuring you're on schedule.

I would also be interested in this if anyone knows how it can be done.

    Cheers,

    Jordan

      Interesting idea.

I'm working on the scheduling side of AutoResponse Plus 4 so I'm going to think about how I can implement this.

      Cheers,

Great thought on the "reverse auto responder". Here's one approach that popped in my head. Let's say you have 8 messages you want the relocation person to receive. You know they are moving in 47 days. Pick an end date for the last email (#8) to be received.

The software automatically divides 47 days by 8 days (47/8) and automatically spreads the send dates of the 8 emails throughout this range. In this case 47/8 = 5.8 so the software should round up to one email ever 6 days.

If they are moving on the 47th day then it's probably best to dial back the total number of days to something like 45 days. And no, I'm not an engineer. Hell, I was an English major in college. Not sure how I got to be so analytical.

Great theory - but I think it would have to be much more flexible than that - e.g. in the "moving" scenario you may want one email just one day before the move, one three days before, one a week before etc etc. . . see what I mean?

Certainly got some brain cells active, though!

Thanks for the great replies, I agree about the flexibility though, but then something like 2 options one just divided back by the amount of days leading up to the "move" and another option for set amount of days.

I Presume that no one has spotted this service out there somewhere, that means I m ay have to get it written, as this is something i have been searching for for quite a while.

  • this sounds like you are describing every autoresponder that ever existed.

let's take a super popular one, aweber

you go there, enter 3 reminder emails, tell them to send them after 10 days, 20 days, then 30 days.

in your moving scenario you simply enter the new client email on day 1 and they will get the emails every 10 days (or whatever you choose) until the day they move

    what am I missing here?

  • sorry, I see what you are saying now,

it's not really a "reverse" auto responder

you just want to be able to schedule the dates to end on the "moving date"

    cheers,

e.g. in the "moving" scenario you may want one email just one day before the move
You may also consider sending text messages to their cell phones as with the "moving" scenario mentioned here there is a high possibility that they don't get their last mail as everything is already packed, but the cell phone will always be available.

Thats pretty much guaranteed, I cant imagine a huge amount of people having not packed their computers away, but then in the day of iphones etc, who needs a computer to receive email

You could setup several duplicate autoresponders. Each set to a different set of start and run dates.

For example one set to deliver over 90 days, another 80, 70 ,60, 30, 15, etc.

Then on the signup page you a script that hides non-selected corresponding choices. John Ritz and Robert both have scripts that allow the visitor pick from a set of choices and then deliver content pertanant to their choice.

For example if you ask the question. " When are you planning to move?"
Then give the a set of choices , such as those above.

They choose 60 days. The next thing they see will be is the subscription form for the 60 days autoresponder and only 60 days. All other choices are void.

The next person coming to that page decides 30 days, And again invisible to them they are presented with only the 30 day autoresponder.

With this approach, there is no extra programming required.

    Hi Jason,

The autoresponder mention: followup101.com is a service I run.

But the script for showing only the chosen code is provided by Warrior John Ritz at:

    Direct link: http://www.copywriters-toolkit.com/

    Affiliate link: http://www.ArtoftheJV.com/copywritertk

This is a method I have shared with my autoresponders customers. Combining the to services, also keeps me from doing any extra programming.
