I think that spun articles are just junk and bad for anyone who wants a quality website.
The grammar and English in these articles is all rubbish.

You have an incomplete definition of spun articles.

It depends completely on how well the person spins the article.

If you don't add your own intelligence into the equation they will be crap.

But used PROPERLY, spinning software is very powerful.

I agree with steadyon you still need to use some smarts when it comes to spinning articles.

I believe that a good spinning tool like thebestspinner is good to have as part or your arsenal of online marketing tools.

Google is getting really smart when it comes to spinning, it is still effective you just have to be smart when doing it and not lazy.

If you spin YOUR OWN articles, then there is nothing dishonest about it.

If you spin OTHER PEOPLE's articles, then you're being dishonest.

Wow I never thought about it in this way, I guess that when you spin just your articles (I would never take article from someone else) and make a quality spin, while having the value of the article and the benefit for the reader on a first place then it should be okay.

If you have never seen a Vita Vee spun article(member and IM'er to the max), properly spun articles are a tool for links, end of story. It works but should only be a part of your SEO for any website.

  • I hire people to take the content I've already written and make it work for various article directories. I know that isn't the exact meaning for the word "spin" but that's how I use it.

    I do not spin articles.

I think EZA's policy is appropriate. Why should they desire to have dozens of articles saying exactly the same thing with just changes in wording? It defeats the purpose of their directory.

(Note: Not sure what you believe their PURPOSE is, but I assume it is to make money by getting the highest numbers of clicks on Adsense ads as possible. I think Google just made it perfectly clear of their opinion of junk filled article directories.)

Is Spinning Articles a must? No.

Is spinning articles dishonest? Not if you are spinning your own articles, AND do not try to pass them off as original. If you are claiming they are original articles you should be having a moral dilemma. Shouldn't you?

May I ask what techniques do use for off page seo optimization if you don't spin articles?

        Sure....

#1 - Articles on minimal article directories with the intention of getting them syndicated to niche blogs, newsletters, and websites within my market.

#2 - Don't wait for someone to find the articles, tell them about them if I can identify sites using syndicated content. (It takes time and research.)

#3 - Building a traffic funnel including a variety of Web 2.0 sites, and Social networking sites. I always start with the ones available for autoposts through Posterous.

#4 - Blog commenting on blogs within my market, but not targeting the same keywords. I use a combination of Market Samurai and CommentKahuna to help me find blogs.

#5 - Guest posts on blogs within my market.

Those are my basic steps... One of my clients runs an SEO service and adds items like downloadable screensavers on download sites, directory listings, and a few other items into his SEO mix.

I'm not sure why you want to spin anyway. If you are using it to submit to tons of article directories for backlink purposes you will get only modest benefits from spun articles compared to using the exact same article for all of them.

Besides, what is your bottom line goal? Do you want targeted traffic, or SEO rankings? While you might think they are the same thing, they can be vastly different animals. One article syndicated to the right location will bring you more traffic this week than a #4-#10 ranking on most keywords.

Take a look at TPW's Warrior Forum blog and hunt down his free ebook on Article Marketing. You can find the link in this post: http://www.warriorforum.com/blogs/tp...ke-action.html

He does a much better job of discussing the importance of syndication than I do.

Nope - "I'm too busy to write my own articles" isn't an excuse for taking someone else's work and spinning it. That seems to be what you are saying.

There are times when you need to spin your OWN original articles - for Unique Article Wizard for example. If you are "spinning" articles written by others, you are stealing. No other word for it.
