Need advice about mentoring

Hello internet marketers! I'm Jimmy and i have been visiting this forum for the last 3 months. I decided to take internet marketing as the path to increase my income and hopefully have freedom of time.

But for the last two months since i started my website i was really struggling. I read a lot about internet marketing and website administration but i am not getting any results.

My question is

given that i will work hard and i only have a limited budget, should i consider giving my hard earned money to a coach/mentor to teach and guide me or should i just continue learning and doing it on my own?

Your advice will be very much appreciated guys

Thank you very much.

It is always good to learn Internet Marketing strategies by yourself. To be very honest don't waste your money on coach/mentor. What you need to do, analyze your marketing activities to find where you are lacking.

thanks for your response. i know some of the coaching program are just really about them making money. But i know some are really sincere in helping others who struggle and they focus on results but i dont know how to find them.

im still open to try coaching as long as they are results oriented.

and still waiting for others advice for this

      thanks again

    Hi,
If money is a problem at the moment don't look for a mentor find as much free information as you can by checking other warriors signatures in the area you are interested in.You may have to sign up to their list to get the info.
    Good Luck

There is certainly a wealth of free information both here on the forum and on the web in general. Spending the time researching that will definitely help however it can obviously be quite time consuming.

Be careful where you spend your dollars, especially in the beginning. You can find mentoring out there at no cost to you. That's the ideal answer. Benefiting from the experience and techniques of others that have gone before you.

Keep searching the members here, many of which are using tools and systems that will fit your needs to the tee as well.

Don't pay for a coach. The only one that will make money from the deal is the coach - not you.

thats exactly what im worried about. coaches who are taking advantage of others. so far i have only spent my money on a rosalind gardners ebook the super affiliate. but i realized what i learned their is just the tip of the iceberg.

i really hope i can meet someone who has done it. The real deal. Someone who is absolutely successful in IM and knows how to make money and really get results.

I read Rosalind's book too, and like you said it was informative but basic.

One thing you have to get to no matter what you do is traffic. Doesn't matter what your skills or products are if nobody can see them.

Fortunately there are a lot of free ways to generate traffic too, so someone starting out like yourself doesn't have to break the bank.

What can you say about this?

The system I use is designed to do just that, one on one mentoring. You are assigned a specialist you works with you personally. You receive training, both live and recorded that walks you through generating traffic, social networking and a variety of skills and techniques to drive customers to your site or product. And it's all made available to the members at no cost.

So there are programs available to help new and experienced IMers to be successful.

Don't buy anything that you can't afford. If you're on a budget don't hire a coach. I have a coaching program and I do admit that it can be expensive for beginners, so don't hire a coach unless you can afford it.

Also, if you decide to take this route don't hire the first guy you find, there are many scammers out there, so make a lot of research about the person first, contact them, ask questions, etc... It's not like buying a cheap report, if you do everything right the benefits can awsome, but if you choose the wrong guy you can waste a lot of money.

Your top priority should be the structure of your business. Hosting, domain, autoresponder, etc... After you have all of the essential tools start thinking about how you intend to learn a method to get started. If you're short on money go to forums like this one and try to learn for free. It's time consuming, but 100% possible. If you have some money consider buying a good report (not tons of reports, one or two good reports are enough) to speed up the learning process. Only hire a mentor if you really have the money to pay for coaching and the further expenses involved in the method that he/she will teach you.

My advice to you would be to stay/get a real job and then with your spare time learn IM. When you first start out online there is so much information and so many roads you can take i bet your heads in a right mess just like mine was.

I would also get a membership if you can at the thevault ,google it and you can get pretty much all the information you need for 10 lifetimes but then again you need to focus on one niche, once source of traffic to begin with and take it from there.

One last thing dont read and believe everything you read as there is alot of crap info out there aswell, 99% of those gurus clean your bank account so be on guard and take action after reading something.

    Hey Jimmy,

It all depends on what you want to do...

If you want to learn by trial and error and spend months and
probably years to get where you want to be then continue
looking for info in forums, blogs, articles, etc.

Remember that many of this info can mislead you because
there are lot of people out there that don't know what they
    are talking about.

But if you want to accelerate your success and move from
where you are to where you want to be quickly I suggest you
get a mentor. You'll save a lot of time, energy and in the
    long run money.

I can tell you this from experience, I've taken people from
nothing to success in a very short period of time...

There is a huge difference between working alone and working
    with a mentor.

    Thanks,

Hello Reymond. Thanks for your response. You have contradicted the advice of others but I also get your point. Working with someone who knows the business will really save time, energy and money in the long run.

Do u think it would be worth to borrow money from a friend to get a mentor?

And can u recommend one for me?

Do not borrow money to get a start in IM and do not buy coaching, if you buy coaching they will reel you in with sales page and then hit you with up sells all day long to other better coaching that they run or ther best mate runs etc etc

If they really cared about you making money wouldnt they just have 1 coaching program ? No most have about 4-5 different plans that get more money from you.

Il see about getting a pass for the vault.

I disagree, maybe you have had bad experiences with coaches,
but a good coach doesn't use the techniques you mentioned -
upsells, sale pages and all that.

A good coach cares about his client's success, remember that
his reputation is on the line.

I have a very different approach, I don't only teach how to
make more money because it is just half of the picture...

I design a plan that they can follow to make more money,
          work less and enjoy life.

You see, it is not my main goal to make money, doing great
and having fun are. But if I do great and have fun then the
          money will follow.

Do not borrow money. If you don't have any money then try to
put some money aside to work with a mentor. Try to do some

I would simply be cautious right now about how you spend your money. With the recent Google changes, many people have found they have had to change strategies. This may also be true for "gurus" trying to sell their wares.

Do lots of free research here to find people that others seem to look up to. Beware of "backlink strategies" that you have to pay to learn. I'm not saying all backlinking approaches would be worthless, but many have changed just days ago.

Learn here first! You may change your mind about what approach you take once you read some here - you won't waste your money on a coaching or mentoring program taking you in the wrong direction that doesn't fit your vision.

EDIT- You don't have to pay for a mentor. There are many right here that you can become familiar with for FREE!

You have so much knowledge and experience available to you here on the WF that you'll be able to find answers to all of your questions for free...

        Jimmy,

A mentor can be a great way to get qualified feedback about your business once it's built and making some money.

But I would advise against relying on one to build the business in the first place. Seems like money thrown out the window when you can get a good basic money making ebook for less than 100 bucks.

I think you should save your money and invest your time instead.

There are many paths to success. Grinding it out, stumbling and learning from it is a good way to find your own path.

That's not to say you can learn from others along the way.

    Thank you very much.
There are sooo many factors that go into giving you a good answer, but I'll put it like this. If the person can make a guarantee you feel will only help further your success, then go for it.

A guarantee may be that the coach will stick by your side until you make your first $100.

Maybe the coach will allow you access to their "exclusive" resources

Maybe the coach will pay you if you don't meet a certain income level in a certain amount of time

If the guarantee is good and you feel like its a win-win, then I say go for it!

A lot of mix comments about getting a coach
I got a coach once outside of IM but he did live a few miles away so very local.
He mentored me in money finance and told me to find someone who was in the same role as me but earning more money and see if I could shadow that person, which I did.
A few months later I applied for a job and ending up getting paid as much as her in the same role that I was already doing.

A coach that can do that for you is a winner.

You have to see the playing field.

It is unlikely that a coach can give you one to one support for $39 a month or whatever since these types of coaching spread their energy across numbers and restrict it to videos, ebooks, reports and collective webinars/seminars. There is nothing wrong with that but the 'holding your hand' is not there and you will be expected to do the work yourself and find support from others via a forum.

The drive and the motivation lies with you.

Ideally if you have a strategy for a niche you need to follow that to the letter and that is what you may be missing on. A higher paid coach can potentially guide you through that strategy till you are earning the dollars.

    Hey Jimmi,

Why would you even want a mentor? Wouldn't you want to learn everything by yourself, making your own decisions? I'm sure you know this, but for all of you out there: Life is hard and you will not always find someone, who will give you a hand.

This is a good question...I was in the same place...at the end of my rope...no success, and a limited budget. If you get a mentor/coach, be careful who you use. There are a lot of "mentors" who just want to take your money and not even help you. The problem with finding free information and such is that if you have questions, you don't have anyone to bounce them off. The learning curve can be unbarable. I randomly met Craig Desorcy on the forum, and since talking with Craig a few months ago, I'm working for myself FULL TIME and making a great living! Get a hold of Craig if you're looking for someone that can actually help you. He's a good guy, and am grateful I met him. Hope that helps a little bit.
