I am in the UK and it does not allow us to post on BackPage. Do you know of a way around this ?

Yes, you need to get a US proxy or VPN. Try to get a private or exclusive proxy. They are much more reliable. Don't use public proxies.

There is no such thing as a reliable posting service anymore. The fact that you say this with recent changes to CL, make me even more suspicious.

Tell you what. Post some free ads for me for a couple days, and then maybe I will think about it.

Do you think it would be worth getting a PVA to post just 1 ad a day for an affiliate product in the for sale section? Is there really much a response for online products?

I am all about making money but Craigslist is getting really oversaturated my father who is 62 and getting a divorce posted an ad in the personals section and got back 20 dating offers. He was like why cant people make money legitimately or just be honest about their offer instead of trying to trick me.

Not everyone uses Craigslist to trick people. In fact it is a very small percentage of people who do that BH stuff. Of the hundreds of clients I used to have, 100% we posted in the Services, For Sale, and Real Estate. All where legitimite business trying to sell something or generate leads.

CL is not oversaturated. In fact with all the restrictions CL has recently implemented, CL is better than it ever has been. There is way less spam, and you'll notice sections that used to have 5-10 pages a day, now sometimes only have one. If you can get just a few ads up per day you can generate some good leads and sales. Trust me when I say this. I used to post 300 ads per day for my personal business, and now I only do 50, and get more leads then I ever did before.

Could you explain a bit more please? Do you mean my ISP has to be from a US company? I've no idea how to go about that in the UK. My web hosting is US based, but my ISP is a UK one.

Proxies allow your computer IP address to look like it is somewhere else, like in the United States, even if you are in England. Shoot me a PM and I'll tell you where you can buy one.

Now is not a good time to start

I have been using CL for years, for what I would consider legitimate posts, and at most only a few a day. But CL's terms and restrictions have been getting tougher and tougher. In a way they have been breeding stronger and stronger spammers.

So now the only people who can post are either complete newbies posting their ad for the first ( and likely last) time, and those who make this a full time occupation and invest in increasingly sophisticated ways to fool CL-- multiple IP's, accounts, phone numbers, image ads, random text, etc. Even so, they are playing a cat and mouse game with CL... and they are losing, because the time and effort, i.e. cost, required to get an ad up is increasing.

The irony is that the result has been tons more spam and fewer legitimate ads. CL is digging itself deeper into its own grave. And it is all because of one flaw. CL continues to allow anonymous ads in many categories. When it finally gets to the point that it requires real ID (e.g. by credit card) it will put an end to all this nonsense. Just ask anyone who used to post in the "Adult" category, which now requires ID. The spammers moved elsewhere.

CL could really learn a lesson from Google. Just charge a few cents per click and let us post as many times as we want. And let the marketplace decide which ads it wants to see.

Until then, you'll probably find that CL is a waste of time.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying here. CL is definitely shooting themselves in the foot with all the BS that has been going on, and it all makes for a bad user experience. The people really affected are the normal day Joes who simply want to post one ad.

One thing I disagree with you is that it is a waste of time. Just a couple ads posted cost very little if you know what you are doing. CL is still cheaper than a lot of other advertising mediums if you really break down the numbers.
