Newbie question

Let's say I am making my very own web page and let's say that, theoretically, it's going to be about golf. So let's say my main keyword is "golf" and everything is going to be golf-related.

Right now, the google AdWords keyword tool tells me that "golf" is estimated at $1.32 per click. However, "golf in las vegas" is estimated at $35.77 per click.

So my question is, if I placed a page on my site about golfing in las vegas, will adsense place ads about "golf in las vegas" on that page, or will it just post "golf" ads on that page?

Does that question make sense?

    AdSense will try to place ads which match best with the content around them. So if your page is about golf in las vegas, the ads are much more likely (but not guaranteed) to be in the niche of golf in las vegas.

    It does make sense. I would create pages related to golf in las vegas, instead of golf pages, makes much more sense.

    The irritating thing about Adsense is it picks up on words you don't want it to pick on. My blog is mandyallen.com and I constantly get ads for Allen Keys (tools). My blog is not about tools!

    You are aware those amounts are NOT what you will be paid... right?
    It's what the advertizer has to pay to G. Then G. takes its lion share - and you will get a few pennies, too.

    Just in case you were hoping to get rich if all your relatives are clicking day and night on your websites, LOL. :rolleyes:

      That's what I was going to say! I mean some keywords still pay more for advertsing but still not nearly as much as adwords tool suggests.....

      I think google should make an adsense keyword tool!

        It has one.. the official google preview tool

        But you actually have to have a website first, and then you can preview ads based on your websites content.

        You can't base it on keywords only

    Forget GOOGLES PPC campaings! They are money waster! there tons of better marketing techniques... Just stop spending you money on googles adsense, i just saved you tons of money... Hope you will listen to my advise !

    The problem with targeting high paying keywords is that there is so much competition out there. You're going to have a very difficult time driving traffic to your site through those keywords because the bigger sites with a staff and budget will be taking the top spots in Google.     Find out who is paying the $35 per click and contact them once you can prove that you have traffic to your site and offer to sell them an ad spot or see if they have an affiliate program and then make the commissions when people buy from your site. Definately beats 1 cent per click.

      What they said! Same thing with CPA offers if you have the traffic, go to the source.

        Whoa, thanks for all the advice.

        I'm not actually targeting these keywords, nor am I paying for a Google AdWord campaign and I do realize I won't get the full share of those prices, but how much will I get? And, what is a good CPC to look for? I guess I'll have to get Market Samurai.

        Basically I just wanted to get an idea of how to layout a website and use keywords within the different pages.
