Default 1shoppingcart questions

I just created a 1shoppingcart account and am struggling to set up my first product.

As far as I can tell when I ran a test purchase, buyers have to fill out all of their info - first name, last name, address, etc. Is this true? I set up paypal as my only payment option - they can't just go pay that way without giving all that info?

I'm wondering if customers would find that to be a turnoff if so.

I don't think there is an option to turn it off, but it's fine mostly and people can have the cart save their info.

I did get a complaint once from a really, really, really, really angry woman. I'm thinking anything could have set her off that day. :-(

spotted this ages ago. Thats why i dont use them or 1checkout...the amount of information my customers would have to enter is just crazy. You shouldn't have to enter your house details etc... just for an ebook.

simplecart is comming out in 09' its implimenting this aswell as a lot of other things.

You should have 2 options, the long cart that you're seeing or a quick choice cart

1 Shopping Cart when used properly can by increase your conversions by leaps and bounds as well. The forms looks and layouts are highly customizable, allowing you to actually split test your dropoff rate and increase the number of people who actually purchase once they get to your order form.

For example, click the order button on this sales page:

The Most Incredible FREE Gift -- Ever!

(They actually use InfusionSoft now, but they used to use 1SC.)

The entire sales process is completely seemless and has been tested to convert like crazy.

I guess my point is - Don't dismiss 1SC too quickly.

But the quick one ultimately goes to the long form they have to fill out, don't they?

I griped about what a hard time I was having, on Twitter - and one of their customer service reps came on there immediately and offered to help! Which is awesome.

I do hope there is a quick option on there, Kim - have you used 1shoppingcart? I mean, I'd personally like all of my customer's info, but I don't think most people are going to sit there and enter name, street address, city, state, country, zip code, telephone number...to buy an ebook. I probably wouldn't.

I'll work on it again tomorrow morning.

Yeah, some customers are frankly just angry. And crazy.

But I am going to have to think twice about 1shoppingcart if people have to fill in ALL of that info to buy something like a WSO. I'm afraid it might really hurt sales.

Hi Dana

1ShoppingCart have the best customer support I've ever seen in an online company, and it doesn't surprise me they were attentive to your Twitter message.

Their support really is 1st class!

Re your problem - if you're just looking for an affiliate option for your products then I would consider PayDotCom or E-JKunkie.

This will allow you to sell your products using Paypal in the way you're doing right now, while also giving potential affiliates a robust tracking system. I've used both PayDotCom and E-Junkie to process thousands of dollars of transactions and have never had a problem.

I use 1ShoppingCart because I need to have a fully featured cart collecting sales information, but if you don't need this for your business I'd definitely recommend just using Paypal together with an affiliate tracking solution.

If you do decide you need to have a shopping cart then I can thoroughly recommend 1ShoppingCart.

Hi Dana,

I second Lee's comment about 1shoppingcart having an extremely helpful support staff.

I ran into a few complications when I first set mine up, and they patiently walked me through whatever I needed to know. I recommend them highly!

Things I personally like about 1shoppingcart:

The automated integration with the autoresponder, affiliate system, unlimited products, customizableness (eek, that's not an official word I'm afraid) of shopping cart and such, not that I have utilized all these to their fullest extent, and so on, and it's all in one place.

Oh, and "buyers" don't have to confirm in order to be added to an autoresponder, which can be very handy when you're relying on your autoresponder to deliver parts of their purchases.

Can you imagine -- they miss the confirmation message, don't get the product, get mad, think they've been had, demand refunds, etc. I like the system, and i just found this out recently actually, when I had a related question.

Easy managing of mailing lists (add, drop, edit, etc.)

One pain in the rear about their autoresponders though:

you have to mark your messages by the number of days after day 0 that you're sending them out. I.e., one 3 months into the sequence is labelled 90. The problem... if you don't keep up with your emails:

If you have people at day 90 but you're only up to day 60 with your messages because you were on a 3 month vacation... If you now add day 65, everybody with a higher number of "presence" won't get your message.

BUT: you can reset them to day 62 if you like. By hand. uurrgh. But at least it's doable.

So you do have a lot of control, but you also have to do a bit of grunt work, or stay on top of things.

I like it overall.

A hosted FANTASOS account might also be worth looking into.

I will be the 1st one to admit that FANTASOS is a BEAST, but, once you grasp it's concepts, and get your mind around the way it works, you wonder how you ever lived without it!

Let's see, what I need right now - I currently use e-junkie to sell a PLR product and I've never had a problem with them. What I want is a system that will allow me to:

1.) Recruit affiliates and provide a good, easy to manage tracking system for myself and the affiliates

2.) upload digital products and create "order now" buttons for services, and also create "order now" buttons for services - say, press release writing or whatever, where people can click and pay

3.) Will send people who have purchased to a thank-you page where I offer them a choice to sign up for my email list

4.) Provide that email list/autoresponder series so I can send out single broadcast messages, series, etc., just like aweber.

If a combination of e-junkie and aweber will do that, that would most likely be cheaper, but I'm afraid people would have to jump through too many hoops if I did that. I could be wrong.

Also, is e-junkies affiliate system as strong as 1shoppingcarts?

Well, I just checked on e-junkie and they charge you for each email/broadcast that they send out to your customer list. On the other hand, the customer list doesn't opt-in after they buy. I don't know if that's good or bad.

For my list of customers I sold a PLR pack to, which is like 92 people, it was two dollars and change to send out a broadcast message. And e-junkie costs $5 a month. If I read it right, it's 2 cents per person on your list and then some other charge.
