Giving Back : WSO Tips

22 replies
I have gained a huge amount of knowledge from this forum so I have decided to share some of my tips and techniques with all the great warriors of the forum!

The first thing I will cover is your WSO's title;

When construction a title (and also when construction your product) there are several keywords you should think of targeting when you launch your product. These keywords are unique to selling on the WSO forum ;

PLR - 300
Wordpress - 260
free - 219
software - 178
offline - 172
video - 126
CPA - 113
niche - 108
article - 104
membership - 83

Now you may be wondering what the numbers are after the keywords? These are the amount of people that have an alert on the specific keyword. Now for some big time marketers, they may already have a lot of people that have an alert on their name, but for people starting off with WSO, these keywords could make or break their efforts.

For example lets just think up a quick title ;

Free Wordpress Software! - Make 2,345 subscribers in 4 weeks? [PLR Video Course]

Now off course this would depend on the product you have created, but if you think of these keywords before making the product you will generate -> 219+260+178+300+126 = 1,083 potential extra buyers to your WSO as soon as you launch it! Now off course not all of these are going to buy, but you know they are your target market and they have an interest.

Also with the title example, notice how I covered a benefit (basic copywriting rule) and used a specific metric (2,345 subscribers).

The general first rule of copywriting is that people do not care specifically what your course covers (the only reason they will want to know what your course does is so they can decided not to do it!), they just want to know what benefits it will give them - how much weight will they loose/money will they make/subscribers will they gain/hot dates will they go on, and how fast.

Having a specific metric make it more trustworthy, it seems more realistic then "Made 5,000 subscribers in a month", you know the person that writes this will have rounded up, but it becomes less real when they do!

Finally for the title notice how I used a question mark. If you read the title it would have made perfect sense without the question mark, but adding it in is another little tip that builds trust. It intrigues people and makes them what to check if it is possible. I mean off course they know it must be or else you wouldn't have mentioned it, but it is a psychological thing!

Anyway I hope these couple of tips help people out! I will be sure to deliver some more soon.

Kind Regards,
Connor

    No problem buddy. Just gained such a large amount of knowledge from this forum (selling WSO's was my first "Break" in IM) so I want to give beginners that are considering product creation a fair chance at success. Even making enough sales to cover the thread fee is often enough to inspire confidence!

    Very Good Tip! I wish I had known this prior to my first WSO!

    But I'll be ready next time!

    Thanks!

    I clicked the thanks button but it just didn't seem like enough

      Your thanks and the fact that I am helping is more then enough. I find with IM that everything comes together once you figure out what subniche you like, and you start building on it.

      Start buying any related products you can, add to your arsenal of techniques and never stop learning!

    One more thing is to include a lot of testimonials and reviews in your copy. This is bound to increase trust and hence, more sales!

      Hey Karan, yeah that is a great way to bring in a trust relationship. I intend to post some more threads giving tips, I just wanted to give a little overview of titles in this. For testimonials it is really great if you can get some video ones or get reputable people in your subniche to look at your product!

        Hey Connor,

        I don't think video or screenshots make any difference. As far as your product is great, and people are liking it, they won't make a huge difference.

      Hey again Karan. The media format is not too important for forums as people can see that the testimonials are trustworthy, but if you have a great review from an authority in your niche it can often be a great selling point for your product (so it is worth giving them a PM just incase!).

      Also when not selling in such a social environment, having video testimonials can greatly boost the trust that people have in your product. People will often be wary about written testimonials on sales pages as the page creator could very easily just write them themselves.

        I agree on that. For my own WSO, I contacted a person who earlier had success in the same niche to review my product!

        As far as faking written testimonials in concerned, even videos can be faked. (Hint: Head on to Fiverr!)

          Just how morally fine is it to build a trust that holds foundations on deceiving someone?

          This also goes out to readers that testimonials should always be taken with a pinch of salt, even on forums it is often easy to pick out a review copy testimonial from a sale one.
          I agree on that. A buyer's decision should never be based solely on the testimonials.

            Hey again Karan, yeah I know what you are saying about morals, but what I am trying to get across is the point that the whole system is often based on deception (once again not true for all). Copywriting for example is the art of making people buy things, well if what you are selling is so great then why should you need sales copy? Because people won't just buy anything, but then if it is great why do "normal" sales letters not get as much sales as those filled with benefit hype and promise? Because it is human nature to want a quick option.

            The reality is often not quite what is made out in the sales letter, hence a lot of people buy countless products and why the majority of people do not actually succeed at making cash online (or whatever niche they are interested in), because if everyone succeeded, there would be no need to sell to them!

            The same holds true for testimonials, because of the nature of the internet it is all too easy to build a deception and also need to go to these lengths because people simpley respond to them. You may have a brilliant product but if people do not respond to your sales page, it becomes much more difficult to get the sale.

            Anyway as a note to all, I am not promoting the use of deceptive tactics or any other black hat method if it even slightly comes accross that way haha! I am just trying to get the point across.

            Hope this enlightens,
            Kind Regards,

                Hey Karan,

                No no no, I did not do it for a WSO or trying to sell a product more. I did it in a split test for a short period of time to judge the effects of a video testimonial vs a normal written testimonial. I also tested the effects of including a picture and website associated with the testimonial giver on conversions and this had a positive effect and tested the effect of a full video sales page etc.

                This split testing is for the product which is a case study, not actually in promoting the product. Need to make myself more clear haha!

                  OK. I get it. You used faked social proof for testing how effective THEY are in getting to people buy your stuff..

                  Excuse me, but that's just lame. Split testing can, should, and is done with real stuff: real testimonials, real people, real reviews, real YOURSELVES!

    Good info about the alerts, but for the sake of accuracy I should point out the flaw in your assumption above.

    As far as I know, it's possible for someone to have multiple alerts at Warriorplus, so it's entirely likely that there'd be a large element of crossover with the most popular keywords.

    Still a tip worth bearing in mind, though.
