Product Creators & Marketers - Can You tell me how this video was done?

I searched the forums before posting this question here, so I hope I'm not guilty of posting in the wrong forum - video questions like there are posted in several forums, so here goes.

I want to create promotional videos like this welcome video on the Atkins website:

Home - Atkins

It's the video with the gal in the red t-shirt in the center of the screen. The videos play when you click the menu options beside her.

My two questions are:

1. How did they get that clickable menu on the right?

2. And especially, how did they remove the background behind the speaker?

I see that a flash player is required to view the videos, so I'm presuming it's a flash presentation. Where do I find more info on how to do this? Any and all suggestions gratefully appreciated.

    They would have just recorded her (Courtney Thorne-Smith) in front of a green screen so they could put whatever background they want behind her.

    In terms of the menu, this would just be done with flash. I wouldn't worry too much about little things like this though. A regular video presentation is going to work just as well for you. The information in the video is a lot more important than a few menu buttons down the side of it.

    Thanks Will. I really like the blank background and buttons effect. It is perfect for a project I have in mind. I won't worry about it - I'll simply learn how to do it. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

    Edited to add: Who is Courtney Thorne-Smith and how did you know it was her? I'm nosey, eh! (And very Canadian - hence, the eh! Just gotta add it sometimes.)
