... and why do I want them?

Does it just help you keep track of people who's profiles you want fast access to?

I really do not understand the benefit of the friend function in the forum.

Care to enlighten me?

Well, Josh, I've been adding people right and left to my friend list and the main reason I do it is so I will look especially cool to the people who visit my profile. See, the people who don't know me will think I am a trophy boar. The people who DO know me will STILL know that I don't really have a life and I am very lonely. At least, that's MY take on the friend list!

It's a sinister plot by the faceless gurus to accumulate their dearly beloved "friends" on the very "special" *list.*

List here, being a term of endearment. If you listen closely you can hear their spirits saying, "Muhahahaha"

Then when everyone is comfortable with the new forum, they

mass send all their friends who are on their special friends list

with a very friendly special offer only available to the friends on their friendly friend list.

Then they meet in the private forum and tell the others with the most friends on their friend list

how they "quickly and easily" converted their lists of friends they'd lay their life down for into lifelong customers

with little to no effort on their part guaranteed just by clicking their friend button.

My advice, be a little leary of anyone wanting to suddenly "befriend" you.

          Totally kidding man.

Looks like a great way to connect.

I think we'll all eventually need to pick "set times" to approve our friends once every day just like checking emails or we could find our most productive moments being social.

Since I have never had a friend function that I can remember on any forum, I consider it an easier way to get ahold of someone if you need to.

Much like "social networking" - if you have multiple ways of getting into contact with a particular person - it sure helps when emails fail.

I'd like to know what universe my emails get sucked into, and if it's anything like where socks go in the dryer.

      Thanks!

      Hi Josh,

You surprise me - the friend feature encapsulates the many hidden, but powerful facets of social marketing...

PS - I hope you don't mind me saying but your avatar always makes me think of that guy out of 'Ferris Bueller's day off' - Matthew Broderick? I guess that's not so bad...
