Default SMS Marketing, anyone?

Hi,

It's been quite sometimes since my last post .........:-)

Is there anyone here who use SMS as marketing tools? Would you please share your experience .....

Do you think SMS Marketing by collecting customers mobile phone is As important as Email marketing by collecting customers email?

Thanks for your contribution...

SMS marketing is very annoying and possibility of class action law suit is there. Many people do pay for each SMS they receive.

No I dont think so?

SMS ads are annoying and plus you only have a limited number of characters to work with.

Still I'm sure it can work if done right.

I work with permission based SMS adverts that I offer to my clients. It works VERY well for certain industries.

I think we need to define sms marketing.

Is it sending text based marketing campaigns to people we don't know?

If this is the case, I agree... it's a bad idea.

On the other hand, if sms marketing is sending correspondence to optin subscribers for communications purposes (offers, or general info) - like people do with their friends, I see no problem and think it has tremendous value.

Of course, I am somewhat biased because I came up with a free text messaging strategy - permission based of course.

My sig file below has a link to a free video series detailing the implementation of the strategy.

Happy Holidays,

Jeff

Our new service - MobiOptin - is a double optin system, meaning that you only get messages that you have requested and that's it. There are legal guidelines that MUST be followed, just as with email. In fact, SMS falls under the CAN-SPAM act.

It is the fastest growing ad medium in the world - and virtually every major advertiser in the US either has an active campaign right now or have it in their budget plans for 2009.

It is not cost effective but with a 95% open rate - you reach more of your subscribers than you do with email.

Ernie - don't know what the laws are in Australia - but here in the US you have to follow the rules or you get shut down. It is HIGHLY regulated, and apparently quite different than here.

As noted by NewYorkTrader - it works very well - and across quite a number of industries.

Offline, we are selling the service everywhere - we just landed a 100 location fast food client this afternoon. Offline merchants are adopting the service much faster than IM is.

Very odd, but they see the applications more readily and are tired of the spam problems and lack of response to emails - they are more than ready to make the change.

Thank you guys for responding to my questions.
I am in the middle of releasing a brand new software ...

I have good advice here and i will add new feature for the software. It will have "an Auto UnSubscribe" from the list, so sms subscriber will be able to remove or unsubscribe from the mailing list.

Is there any more advice ?

Thank you in advance ....
