Amazon affiliates who use product links

I'm coming to the stage of designing a big ecommerce electronics site.

I notice with all the Amazon product links, right below the picture and price there is a image of 'buy from amazon' what I want to know, is do people still have good conversions using these banners? I would of thought, as soon as people see the link that you can buy from amazon, you would get lower conversions then if the image wasn't there.

I also don't suppose there is a method of 'hiding' the amazon image in a blackhat way? Because it is after all the banner that is appearing so I imagine you would need a complex piece of programming to position something over the image on each link if that is what you wanted?

The alternative for me, is to use my own images and my own prices, however of course the Amazon prices forever change, and my prices wont change dynamically which means constant updating.

Having problems figuring out what is best to do really.

    I have found, and others on this forum have said the same, that text links convert far better than the convential links that Amazon provides. People tend to shy away from sites that, immediately they open, scream "I'm an Amazon affliiate".

      Hmnn, thats what I thought Annie, however I was going for more of an 'ecommerce' type website feel, but still thought people will be wary of Amazon affiliates... Think I'll just need to use my own banners and put a couple of click throughs within text etc.

    I quite agree with you. I find myself in the same postion and I've decided to create a large image with the Amazon product link embedded in the code----but for one problem, I did it last year and I've forgotten how. Can anyone refresh my memory?
