Question on blog flipping

If you are flipping blogs and sites, what is the best hosting that you recommend and why? Is a baby hosting with Hostgator enough? or do you need a reseller account? or is a Bluehost regular hosting good enough? Basically I wouldn't want to host further the site once its sold (I think for that you'd need reseller acccount, right?).
For example what if you are both on the same hosting, is it getting any easier the site transfer?

Any good WSO that explains this 'after sales' process more indepth?

Site transfer really isn't that hard. If you have WHM you can do a simple export of the hosting account.

However, I think the best formula, especially if you are selling to people who have never had a site before, is to have a reseller account and offer them ongoing hosting, or even ramp up your auction to include those costs.

Hi Kislany,

I flip blogs regularly and have used several different hosting companies (still use more than 1 simultaneously). Since I am cranking out new flips fairly often, I will generally use a HostGator reseller account for most new flips for a couple reasons.

Number 1, I can just hand over the user/password (for the site acct I created) to the buyer and they can back up, do what they need to do on their own (assuming they don't need support to transfer).

Number 2, It makes it a fairly simple process to include 30 days (or more) of free hosting along with the sale as a "bonus". You can also use this as a way to give them a free "inside look" at HostGator and promote them to your buyer if you'd like to try to make a few extra bucks ($100+ per sign up actually)

So, even if you don't want to continue offering hosting (I don't either) for long term, it's still a convenient set up for multiple sales and a good bonus offer.

You can do this with any hosting really, but HostGator has awesome support (in my experience) and if you're a newbie with hosting, Cpanel and excellent support makes life a lot easier, especially when you're dealing with multiple sites going in and out (flipping).

That being said, a Baby account at HostGator is also fine. You'll probably want to back up the files yourself and send them everything after the sale (database, wp-content backup) though, which is pretty easy in Cpanel. It's not quite as convenient as a reseller account if you're selling many blogs often, but it's all you need to get started.

As someone with flipping experience, I rightly tell you that Jay was right.
But I will recommend that you have primarily a reseller account with hostgator as that is what I do.

This gives flexibility and security.

I 2nd that motion, TheRealDomainer is right. it does provide that extra flexibility as I have also utilized this method.

Thanks everyone for the replies. So I guess it's worth looking in a reseller account at Hostgator. I have a baby account so I'll just upgrade that one. I assume by lots of flipping the higher cost of this type of account will not be an issue.

choose one that is quite robust. You want your blogs to ramp up quickly - any server outages will follow 'sods law' i.e. the server will go down just when the search engines are trying to index the blog
