I have the impression that only search engines make money on the internet. all the other internet businesses don't make much money. is this true.

    yes that's true... me and all members here will agree...

    BTW, do you know facebook, amazon, ebay, paypal, and overstock? I think they are big search engines, and yes, they are making money....

    Yep - that's true. I don't know why some people say money comes from other places, it's clearly only search engines that make money.

    Well search engines are the God Father of making money. Well there are lots of techniques to make money online but SEs dominate the online business. Other online business directly depends upon SEs.So now you decide that do you want to make money like a king or a slave?

      That is definitely not true.

      The truth is that search engines are like the shopping malls of the Internet. There are too many small shops around and it became impossible to just browse in those, so people just go to those "malls".

      That is why everyone who means true business should make sure that he can be found through a search engine. Of course they take their piece of the cake by selling advertising. But I say that Google and other search engines earn only a small percentage of the overall money that is made on the net. Why can I say this? It wouldn't make any sense otherwise. All the money comes from companies that advertise on the search engines. They would all go bankrupt if they didn't get more money back from their investments than they spend.

      Building your business with an e-mail list is defintivly a profitable internet business. In fact, people do a lot of money with SEO, list building and Ads.

      Don't put all your eggs in same basket. Every big IM companies do that.

        I agree that you shouldn't put all your eggs in one basket. You could do tons of different stuff and build a diverse portfolio....

        -SEO
        -List Building
        -Adsense Sites
        -Domains
        -Amazon sites
        -etc....

        You should focus on one thing at a time and outsource as you get bigger if you want to

          I think a very real danger to look out for is focusing all your efforts on SEO and then getting 'slapped' overnight, losing most if not all of your income suddenly in the process. There seems to be a lot of emphasis on free traffic (via SEO) in discussions on this forum, and I can see how for newbies that might cause them to think SEO is basically all there is to internet marketing.

            SEO will always be here. Getting slapped by google, I assume you're talking about. None of my clients are entirely dependent on Google for their traffic or sales. My clients pay well, so I offer value, not just SEO but social media marketing, opt in building, press management... I build traffic up before they are even ranking.

            Building an email list is what will make you money though, no matter what kind of problems you may be having, an email list can get you out of it.

    I've made good money several different ways on the internet, but my favorite by far is selling my own products through Clickbank. It is 100% one of the easiest ways to make money online... once you get through the learning curve.
