Hi all,

Because some of you are into video creation and want to know everything about getting more views to their videos, I thought I could share something I saw recently that viral videos have in common.

First of all, watch this video:

YouTube - REAL TRAIN FAIL

As you can see it has 132k hits. The video is about a guy imitating a well known dutch person while someone runs into the train in the background.

Notice that it happens in the background . This is key to viral videos. Something unexpected happens in the background.

This way, it looks like what happens is real and not intented.

People will find it very funny and will share it on their social networks with their friends and it goes viral.

There you have it. A 'fact' about why videos go viral.

So if you want your video to go viral, make sure something unusual happens in the background while you shoot a video cast

P.S. As you can read on YouTube, this video was intented as well by students. A professor that studies viral videos taught them this. I thought it would be nice to share.

That's a good point about having something crazy in the background. I've seen that work many times with viral videos.

The other key thing is the length of the video. Short videos that get to the punchline quick usually do better than very long videos. Many people don't like to bother their friends to watch a 10 minute video, so they are usually less viral.
