Internet Marketing is like an addicting game!!

I used to play games... LOL I still do every now and then.

When you start a new game you are really bad right? You have no idea what to do, where to go, but as you progress you memorize the maps you just keep getting better, then you eventually beat the game. Well there are the people who beat it and then there are the people who get stuck on a hard part and quit and never come back to the game.

In IM its a lot more complex and it takes longer to beat and if you're even 25% into it that's very good. But I like to compare it to a game, you can't ever give up, every game I have played has a hard part I feel like I can never beat it, but I just become an obsessed madman and I always end up beating it.

Just thoughts going through my head thought I would share, why not LOL

  • Can confirm, played the Call of duty series for 3-4 years in a team with my brother trying to win tournaments and become the best. Took 3-4 years, cost us money in investing at first without sponsorship. Could have quit after losing all the time after 1 year; heck even after a couple months of losing we could have quit. But we continued.

      Call of Duty is sweeeet!

Also this is a very interesting parallel between IM and games. anything is a game if you think about it.

It really is. I can tell you a few months ago when I first started this "game" I was addicted, learning, trying new things, excited, etc. Now I've found something that keeps me busy and I'm less addicted but still find myself getting excited when I get a thought about my next project.

It really is fun. I have the luxury of not relying on IM as a full time income yet, so I have no stress and can really try to learn how to do things the right way.

However, I hope my story changes 12 months from now. I can't wait to work in my underwear.

Wow, yes it is! I love this comparison!

I've found that it's most fun when you find something in IM that you want to do, when you've found a path you like. There are sooooo many ways to make money online, and it's so easy to get distracted and discouraged.

But, when you find an angle you like, and start to really go for it, it's a ton of fun! Even in the mundane tasks, you know it's all working toward your goals, and that makes it a joy to do.

I'm definitely hooked on this game!

$10,000 a month is over $330 a day. That's not full time income?

Couldn't agree more. I'm totally hooked on IM. The ironic part is several years ago when in a business program I had the option of taking an online marketing module. It cost a bit more for some software (was in 2001) and I passed because I didn't want to pay or have to learn some coding.

Now I've learned to build my own sites and love online commerce ... found it through the back door. Maybe had I been forced to learn it in a formal program I'd have not been interested.

Anyway, I'm grateful every day I found IM. It's my absolute.

Its funny how one thing leads to another, I feel like I was destined to make my own destiny and IM provides that, its limitless, I cant wait until the movie limitless comes out I named my damn site after it I know its going to be good (well I hope) I want to become smarter and smarter without the pill!

I have friends who say "man I wish I had that pill so I can be smarter" LOL I think you can become smarter just have to work harder, in due time it will pay off.

As for coding I'm no guru but it sure is fun to be able to read it and edit it I mean it truly sets you apart from the average human, In my opinion coding is a great asset.

It is, but it's not an "auto-pilot" thing. It's also only been going on three months, so I'm not ready to say it's real yet.

Yeah mike anything is a like a game, some people might disagree with that theory but it always makes things more fun and it keeps you motivated, I like to live life and do WHAT I WANT HOW I WANT IT nobody telling me what to do. But I feel like I make wise decisions its not like I'm irresponsible, I know how to play my game (in a sense lol)

And just like computer games - you can look back after 10 years and think of all the money you could have made if you just spent that time on something else - even working for minimum wage instead.

I'm afraid that in my situation that isn't the case. I made it into the 6-figures playing as a pro gamer.

That response made me laugh!! Your sites are probably game related so I imagine you do really well!!

I actually have never really played video games but I now know the feeling! I find IM to be very exciting - there is never enough time in the day to get it all done and I can't wait to start the next day or next project. I never think, uggghhh tomorrow is Monday! What a great feeling. I definitely think it's about sticking with it, so I am thankful for my addiction!

Thank you for you responses, and I think IM is just a numbers game. You have to figure out how to increase those numbers but it can be fun. Once you "beat the game" become a guru you can start from scratch and beat the game 10x faster ex beating GTA or COD it takes time and is frustrating the first time, but the second time you are an expert you know where to go you almost know the exact location of every enemy.

Its like that in IM, it just takes longer to beat, but the more time you have to play the faster you will beat it!! Remember when you spent almost 24 hrs straight playing lol that's where I am at I am an obsessed madman and I wont stop till I make a reasonable income, then gradually increase it.

I feel like there's a Heavy A** weight on my shoulders and I cannot stop this until I make enough money to brag lol.

I know guys who are working dead end jobs 9-5 only getting paid 10$ an hour and have to get paid what THEIR BOSS WANTS them to get paid. I get paid for how ever much work I put in and it eventually becomes autopilot if done correctly.

I want to expand into stocks and real estate and make a fortune on my terms not any old stinking boss who is a know it all.

LOL its interesting you bring this up. I have a buddy who plays games ALL the time. About 60 hours a week logged in World of Warcraft.

I can just imagine the kind of money he could be making online if he was doing something productive with that 60 hours a week (on top of his full time job).

Regardless IM is like anything else in the world--practice makes perfect. The more you do it, the better you get. Two years ago I thought keyword research was the most difficult thing on the planet to do.

Today I'm damn good at it and its constantly the reason I see so much success.

Yes exactly he probably is really good, if he would spend that time in the IM game OMG he would be making bank.

Honestly its just the way things are, in high school i spent hours at the gym playing basketball, and I am really good it just happens if you spend a lot of time in something you become good plain and simple.

But IM is a challenge its rough its tough but like everything else when it clicks it clicks!

Like I said practice makes perfect. We are habitual creatures my nature. When we do something in a repetitive fashion we get better at that skill. It's why I encourage newbies to just take some damn action.

Yes you can get a great education on these forums by just reading, but this forum can't teach you experience and with experience comes a greater understanding of these concepts.

I never really grasped the concept of SEO and backlinks until I just built a website and dove in head first... If I would have never done that I would still be sitting at square one.

That is the truth.. don't be scared about a project just do it, and if you fail, that teaches you what you did wrong. So the more you fail in these projects the better you will be in the future.

I love being the one to think outside the box, it's sad the see the mindset of Americans who think they need to be spoon fed by teachers, and they need to pay 60k a year at college when the world is based on making money. We have millions of free resources that if used right can be equivalent to a college education. Agree?

After college where do you go? To a business promoting their services and products... RIGHT? You just become their asset.. Id rather get straight to the point and make money not spend 60k to make money...

I'm 19 and in 4 years I feel I can make 50-100k a year (maybe) then by the time I'm making 100k and EXPERENCED college students are just now getting into the real world, while I'm working on making my first million.

I know this is off topic lol but I have so many thoughts crawling in my brain lol

    I can't do it successfully?

Should I give up, or keep trying more?

Question, is it one of those video games, you get money - then buy car parts or whatever, then you're better at it, then you win more money gradually - and repeat?

LOL I don't know if you're being sarcastic

You can't ever give up, read think and grow rich. Summed up the guy was digging for gold dug for days and nothing! he sold the digging machine and the guy who bought it dug three feet deep and struck millions in gold. You may be close to gold but you will never know, its there in this market there are millions even billions of potential customers.

Your local business only targets the people in your area, IM is gold because you can reach anybody.

IM is definitely an addictive game for me. Sometimes it's like I've stepped into a fantasy world and have to overcome all the shiny things that make me lose focus on winning the game. Got to keep playing though. I think it was Winston Churchill that said, "Never, Never, Never give up."

No doubt. I never considered myself to have an addictive personality, but I must say that I've lost myself in this "game." When I first began IM, I was working 40 hour weeks and coming home and working 60 hour weeks on my online business on top of that. Sleeping for 4 hours every other day. I'm glad it's not as intensive as that anymore!
