Is it good to let robots to index membership stuff?

Hi Warriors

Before you might say of course not I just want to make sure of this question. Reason for this is because I thought that if I let robots to index membership area stuff then normal user could not access to them because it requires authentication. But would it be good to let robots to index membership stuff?

As far as I know what you would do is check for the user agent and then let the robots in even without a valid login.

But do you know what the problem is? With Firefox Extensions or other means you can fake your browser's identity and so everyone who gets what you have done there will be able to access your stuff.

By the way, I also consider it cheating if you deliver another page to Google than to the actual visitor.

Thanks for advice. I just thought because I'm using membership plugin for WordPress called s2Members then it restrict access. I have tested how restriction is working with s2Members plugin and as far it has been working great.

Why it would be cheating because it contain valuable information that user can get. Of course I understand this because there would be restriction to this information, so I think it would be cheating. Well then I would not index it to Google in that case

I just hate it when I can read an extract of forum posts for example and when I click on that link I have to sign up. Then I just fire up said Firefox plugin and voilá the site thinks I'm Google and let's me read the stuff.

Decide whether you want to allow access for everyone or just for members, but don't bait me to sign up with something that I can't access then.

Nah, I don't want people to signup just like that for my membership area. I want to keep it clean if people are serious about advanced stuff then they can go and see if they see the membersarea benefit for them.

Secondly I don't like irritate people but rather I would like to help people. I have been building my site up for over 2 years now and still keep posting cool and useful information for anyone but I just made "more advanced stuff" for members because I have been working on them very hard and spent lots of time to discover them.

          I really appreciate your opinion
