Alternative strategies?

So I finally decided to take action and make my affiliate website. I know the average thing to do is come up with 100 articles anchored with my keywords, comment on blogs that are based on my niche. Create some squidoo lens with a couple of ezine articles and link them back to my website and pray for some sales.

Is there any other ways to be successful with my affiliate website? I always read on how you have to pump out 5 articles daily to get on the big G but is there seriously an alternative?
