If your looking for extra traffic, do you find it's worth submitting your articles to low PR article directories? Or just a waste of time?

    Waste of time.

It really wasn't viable for traffic ever... and the time of it being great for SEO has LONG passed.

Focus on the top few, and finding other places to put your content instead.

If you have to do it manually, yeah, it's probably a waste of time. If you can automate it, it can't hurt having extra backlinks out there.

Waste of time. No point doing this at all. Not from an seo perspective.

The content mills have had their day.

As the poster above stated you'll be better off creating blog comments instead.

Definitely not for direct traffic. For links, as RanD said, if you can outsource it or automate it, it is still a source of backlinks for you.

What do you mean by "low PR article directories"?

Do you mean article directories of which the home page has a low page rank?

Are you aware that even in article directories of which the home page has a page rank of 6 or 7, your articles still go on a brand new PR-0 page?

You appreciate that websites (including article directories) don't "have page rank"? Pages have page rank.

For me, the page rank of a directory's home page bears absolutely no relation to whether or not I submit my work there.

But to answer your original question, no: it isn't worth submitting article to low quality article directories unless they're specifically relevant to your niche. If they are, then that's a different matter, because their backlinks can be a worth a lot more to you.

Case in point. Unique article wizard mostly submits to sites with low PR home pages. Do I really care? No. The back links generate rankings for me.
