Today I received a notification from EZA. THe title said I have a problem article.

No biggie.

I opened the email, and found the following message

"Your article MUST BE informative and share your own unique expertise. Include tips, strategies, techniques, case-studies, analysis, opinions and commentary in your articles. Please edit your article to include these things."

What?

That article is a step by step guide, with some suggestions and well researched information. The content is 100% unique.

If EZA insists all articles must adhere to above guideline, more than 50% of the articles on their site should be gone.

I don't know what they really want. Puzzled me big time

I feel the editorial staff is trying to go through so many submissions that they sometimes miss stuff. Your situation is quite a bit more bizarre than mine, though.

I wrote a legit review using the same structure as an article that I had already published with them and they denied it. I was quite peeved so I called them on the problem and they apologized and corrected it the next day.

It might be worth contacting them and seeing what they say. Maybe they'll do something similar if they notice they made a mistake. You'll probably have to patient for a response though.

    Yes.. I agree with you.

I got few articles with "general errors" though i can't seem to figure out the errors. After I contacted them, they apologized and approved my article.

Anyway.. regardless of the headche, I am still using them as the site converts for me.

Per EZA, the stakes are high and these strict rules, which have been updated since day one, will continue to be created and enforced.

I've given up on bending over backwards for EZA. If they accept my article, great. If not, there are countless other ways for me to use my content so I don't let it bother me anymore. I just move on to the next thing on my to do list.

      Use your rejected article for:

      -Your own site or blog
      -A Squidoo lens or Hubpage
      -Other article directories
-Read it aloud then make and submit a podcast for backlinks.
-Post it to a service like linkvana or 1waylinks to get backlinks
-create an exe file and submit it to software directories for backlinks
-post as a guest blogger on someone else's blog
-post the article as a useful tip in a niche forum

I'm sure there are probably dozens more ways to use the content but the point is, if EZA doesn't want your article there are lots of other things you can do with it. I still submit to EZA sometimes but if they don't want what I have I'll use the content some other way.

Exactly. Anything that isn't accepted is just put somewhere else and I just delete it off my account, providing the reason that I want lol.

If you complain about EZA already then you don't know articlemarketer.com. But these strict rules are good for you too. If they would approve every crap that comes along than they would piss of publishers. And pissed publishers don't syndicate your article. So be happy that they try to keep quality high. That assures that publishers keep posting our articles on their sites.

You do not mention what is your topic. Some subjects must have legitimate backup, especially if they are about medical or technical issues or something that requires a certain degree or level of knowledge to provide correct and valuable information.

Also, if your article provides nothing new than what EA has seen numerous times, it will be rejected because it offers nothing but duplication. Clearly, EA didn't feel that your article was informative or original - and that you didn't provide proof of any claims you might have made. This is done through case studies and stats, or from quotes / commentary from experts on the subject.

I'd suggest taking a closer look at how you expressed those steps. Perhaps they are not written in "tip" form, ie: they give the idea but not an actual step to take. One of my articles had this problem. They were points - not instructions.

I got the same nonsense on a 100% unique article that was very informative yada yada yada. Previously they claimed the same article contained "adult content" -- I assure you it didn't.

      Hey Sylvia:

My articles are expressed in step by step manner. It also contain stats, with citation of the source. And, they are not technical or medical oriented.

I found 2 articles on similar subjects but my articles contents are different from the two.

Looking at some of the articles on EZA, I must say that I am surprised that they were approved.

Some articles are just plain CRAP. There are so many of them that are all about promoting their links and the article looks like a SALES letter.

I'm with others here - if they take it, great. If not, delete it and move on. There are hundreds of good article directories. Just post it elsewhere and it will get published.

You can write a lot of articles in the time it takes to comply with EZA's ever-changing rules.

I got an article rejected once because I used the term PLR. They don't like that word so my article got bounced until I removed the reference.

Ha .. Yeah Tom .. I got one rejected only because the word spinner was used. I made no mention of how they work, if they work well or not, nothing .. Just said the word spinner and it was rejected until removed.

This is why you are best to just go and submit the article someplace else that dont mind you using such words and dont mind an author actually advertising his/her own site even if it is in the body of the article.

In my experience, EA are very responsive to (polite) requests for more information.

If you truly feel that your article does share "your own unique expertise"; gently point this out.

Re "If EZA insists all articles must adhere to above guideline, more than 50% of the articles on their site should be gone". They may be tightening up, and insisting that more articles follow the rules. You're right. A huge percentage of articles on EA are rehashed junk.

Quality control is a real challenge for EA, especially since more and more people are discovering the power of articles.

From a purely selfish point of view, I hope they do tighten things up. Junk content devalues all the links we get from EA.

    Cheers

    Hey Angela:

Great insights. Actually, I have had a lot of "problem articles" approved after contacting them.

However, lately I feel that they are getting unreasonable. Today I just feel I need to rant a little.

    Thanks for listening!

I guess that tells you where their problem was.

Someone mentioned having "PLR" in their article. This tells me that they probably run articles through an auto scan for trigger words that they don't like. This helps them to spot articles for rejection or improvement. I wonder how much is automated even though they say live editors go over every submission. I'm guessing it's a combination of the two and that's why some articles get rejected without good reason.

I have to say, I submitted a product review last Monday and EA approved it on Wednesday. This surprised me as the article was written a little differently from my usual approach and I submitted it to product reviews instead of the usual category. I figured they would reject it for sure or find some problem - but they didn't.

      Go figure!

      Sylvia

I have found that when you adhere to their guidelines, the process is much faster. It also depends on your author level. I have got articles approved in 3 days. It seems they like articles of around 400 words that adhere to their guidelines.

Trust me, there are plenty of EZA articles with rehashed and recycled articles. I monitor few of the competitors in my niche, they are basically submitting the same content in different context.

Anyway... I only submit articles with unique contents. Because from my personal experience, unique articles sell. It's like watching a movie. At the first time, it's exciting. Now, imagine watching the same movie 5 times!
