WP Autoresponder And Newsletter Plugin?
I'm a long time lurker here but finally decided to join because I have a question I don't see an answer to. I have a blog (thepersonalfinancehelpcenter.com) and a Twitter feed (thepfhc on Twitter) and have been planning a number of upgrades for my blog. One of them that I really want to add is an Email list.
I've looked at the various options that are available for free, including mailchimp and listwire, but I don't want to use either service. In the case of mailchimp, the question regarding affiliate marketing has me worried, enough that I don't want to take chances even though my niche shouldn't necessarily be a problem.
In the case of listwire, I'm worried in general since they are still new and I've got mixed feelings from what I've read here and elsewhere about it and from what the owner of Listwire has said here and elsewhere.
So, I've been debating about biting the bullet and paying for Aweber or some other paid service such as icontact or getresponse (though right now, money is extremely tight and my blog isn't making anything, so it would be just another expense that I really can't afford while I try to build up the blog).
Anyway, I happened to come across the WP Autoresponder And Newsletter Plugin, which bills itself as a complete replacement for a service like Aweber.
I searched the forums here and I've looked on Google in general but can't seem to find much information on it. I'm wondering why more people don't use it. Is it that your hosting company doesn't let you send mass Emails? Is there some other issue I'm not seeing?
It seems like a great option, at least to start, but I don't want the hassle of porting a list once it gets bigger, especially considering the problem of getting people to re-opt in, which any respectable service would require. Thus, I'm trying to make sure that before I pick an option, I know I'm doing it correctly.
Also, on the same subject, I'm wondering -- does anyone have advice as to whether or not icontact or getresponse is any good? They seem to be cheaper options than Aweber, but again, even though money is really tight for me right now (I just barely managed to swing my rent payment this month), I also want to make sure I do this right so that I don't end up regretting my decisions a couple of years down the line.
Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions.
Eric
