Can someone please what a "footprings" or "linking footprints" is and how to minimize it so that the big G will not detect it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

there probably will be more definitions around... but a footprint as I see it, is the trail you leave in terms of methods, which allows Google to reverse engineer your whole operation once they pick up your trail.

it is only a problem for those using black hat techniques.

I leave huge footprints, so all my content can be easily found.

One example: lets suppose you create a net of autoblogging sites to give you link juice to new pages.

a footprint wold be to host them all in the same account under the same ip.

so you create your money site and put a new page on it. And link with anchor text from all the pages of all the autoblogs (think blogrol) to that page. If you are over 20K pages, it is a nice push.

your page ranks on first page fast (depending on the niche, competition, etc etc), but you lift a red flag.

they check it out and see the backlinks, all coming from the same ip. Say bye bye net...

    Sandra
