How do you Copyright or protect an eBook?

Hey everyone!

I've been working hard on an eBook for quite a while now. I've got something really special for my niche just about ready to go and I'm concerned about protecting it.

What are my options for copyrighting or protecting this work. It's likely that I'll offer a print version at some point as well.

It's a really detailed work with a lot of stuff that hasn't really been put out into this community before.

Any information or websites you can point me to would be really appreciated. This whole "protecting your work" thing on the internet is complicated and somewhat ambiguous. Any help is really great!

you can protect it through:

1) Copyright registration,

for the USA go here Copyright With Click And Copyright To Protect Your Rights Tomorrow

for the UK go here Writers' Copyright Association

2) You can register for an ISBN (International Standard Book Number)

3) Digital Content Protection Software, like

  Would just like to add. Don't use that ebook protection software "Ebook Security - Protect Your Ebooks from Piracy" - not only does their customer service suck but DigitalLockDownPro (google it) offer the exact same service (same script, so literally, exactly the same) for $9.99 a month.

Remember that any work is copyrighted as soon as you put word to paper.

As long as you have proof that you've published your book, you'll have substantial grounds for dispute. However, it's always better to go trough traditional channels for added protection...

You can go to U.S. Copyright Office and do it yourself online for $35.

Sign up for an account. Enter the required info. Upload.
