Good Video Format Converter You Can Recommend?

Hey Guys,

Do you know of any good software that converts any of your video files into any other formats? I'm sure such a thing exists.

Okay, to break down into specifics: I'm looking to convert videos files normally in MOV and WMV into AVI, so I could edit in Camtasia Studio 5. Because besides on-computer-screen videos, I want to make a personal appearance in the video as well (which I take with my own camera video that produces only MOV files; and WMV for webcam).

Got a good software brand you recommend? Thanks!

    Hey Edmund,

Not sure about Camtasia Studio v 5, but I know that v 6 can import both mov and wmv.

I prefer to use Sony Vegas for most of my video editing though. It can import / export just about every kind of video file that exists, and it's a lot more flexible than Camtasia (at least when editing).

I think Sorenson 5 is the best for professional quality results.

    Hey Guys,

I'm back to check this thread again.

I forgot to mention another important point - the MOV file is that of a motion video of me in it, not an on-computer-screen video.

I tried Super © and I don't know why I can't have the MOV file converted to AVI (ok it did, but there's only sound no visual). Wonder if I did something wrong.

I also tried a couple others I found, but doesn't work either. Meaning, either it cannot be converted to AVI as they claimed, or Camtasia Studio 5 is unable to read the newly converted AVI.

Does this imply that Camtasia Studio 5 cannot accept 'motion person' AVI in it? I hope not!

    Hey again,

Just to let you guys know I solved my own problem. What I did was just purchasing Camtasia Studio 6 (upgrade from my current one 5.1.x) because it recognizes MOV files right away without the need for converting.

So if anyone else wanted to know the same solution, this is what I did too.

Thanks again for the helpful resources here, everyone.
