I have something GOOD to say about Ezinearticles.com

There have been a lot of posts lately about Ezinearticles. People are not happy that their articles take up to a week to get published or don't get published at all for one reason or another.

I understand the arguments on both sides. It's irritating when they decline a perfectly good article for no good reason. On the other hand, it's their site and they can do whatever the hell they want. I understand and empathize with both sides of the issue.

Here's one good thing about them being strict and having high standards. I have an article on EZA that has recieved a decent number of views and has a respectable 20% clickthrough rate. This article as made a couple of affiliate sales for about $80 in commissions. Not much over the course of 3 months but I'll take it.

I wanted to see if I could get a little more traffic to the article so I did a Google search and found that my article was on page 3 of the serps. I decided to point some backlinks to my article to see if I could move it up to page 1.

A couple days later, when checking to see my articles postition in the serps I noticed an article with a nearly identical title. When I clicked on the article it was extraordinarily similar to mine and even listed all of the same "tips" as mine and even in the same order as they appear in my article.

I sent an email to the boys at EZA and in less than 24 hours I got a reply back that they take plagerism very seriously and that the offending article had been removed from EZA. Wooo Hooo...

Props to EZA for taking swift and desisive action against a content thief.

To answer the question of why? It's because they are either stupid, lazy, or some combination of the two. It happens all the time but I'm glad I discovered it and that EZA was quick to deal with it.

Probably on a bed like the rest of us.

Many of them don't care if they violate someone else's copyright, and some people think anything published on the web is public domain that anyone is free to use, despite all those copyright notices.

I had the exact opposite experience when I caught a woman using my articles.
EZA dragged their heels and thought half the articles were similar but not plagerism.
I had to track the lady down myself and send her a C&D letter from a lawyer to get her to close the account.

Maybe she wasn't using your articles, but was in fact your soulmate. Fate intertwined your souls so completely that you both wrote exactly the same articles. Maybe even at exactly the same time. Be still, my beating heart.

And you sent her a Cease and Desist notice. How romantic.

    Hey Adam:

Though earlier I posted a rant about EZA here.. however.. I don't normally do this. Regardless of the troubles and headaches, I do submit my articles consistely to EZA for one simple reason: the site drives traffic and $

I've had my own frustrations with them and I've posted a rant myself in the past. I just don't let it bother me anyomre. I'll still submit articles to them sometimes. If they accept it, great. If not I use my content somewhere else, even possibly to point backlinks at an article of mine that IS published on EZA to help it in the SERPS.

Copying the article is one thing, but to then actually have the balls to post it to EzineArticles (effectively returning to the scene of the crime) is just incredibly stupid!

Glad it was dealt with Adam.

I'm glad it was dealt with too. The only reason I even found it is because I was checking to see where MY article was in the serps when, what do you know??? an article extremely similar to mine was in the spot on page 1 where I expected my article to be. If EZA articles didn't do so well in the search engines I never would have known about the theft.

By the way, my article is on page 1 now for my target keyword phrase.

Thats great that they acted quickly. That is the one of the things about them that make them rock. As far as why people do it, I would assume he realized you had a good article and he tweaked it a bit to get the front page listing. Good idea for you to do, but not for him

As far as why people plagarize I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that people think as long as it is in their own words they aren't plagarizing. But, correct me if Im wrong, plagarizing is also stealing someones idea. So if they take an article and write it completely the same way they still are plagarizing.

I read a quote on this forum once, i dont remember who said it, but if it went something like this "if you use one authors ideas, its plagarizing, if you use 3 authors ideas, thats research"

I hope it remains the same.. because the articles definitely drive reasonable amount of traffic...
They do drive traffic and that's why I will still submit to them, I'm just not putting all of my eggs in one basket and I also know a lot more ways to use my content if it gets rejected by EZA.

I've some annoying issues with them in the past but they are still a great source of targeted traffic. No doubt...

I don't have an issue with EZA. The only time my article got disapproved was because I put one link too many, but after I removed it and resubmitted my article, they approved it in a couple of days.

I've had that one too. I've also had articles rejected for reasons that made no sence and when I emailed them I actually got an apology a couple of times.

But, sometimes they don't get published, I don't know why, and I just move on and use the content elsewhere. It's faster for me to write a new article than to try to figure out what went wrong with some of them.

It's really not that hard to get articles accepted to ezine, I find. You merely follow the rules that they quite clearly define and they will always be accepted. The only problem I've had is when I mention a link in the article and they put into problem resolution claiming I've used a self-serving link the body of the article. It was always resolved when I pointed out to them that a site like espn.com is not my site and they apologized for being dumbasses. Now, I just never mention any other site but my own, as I'm sure it's better that way for promotion purposes as well.

I stopped submitting to EA ages ago because it got to the point where every article in my industry was spam. BAD, bare-faced, awful spam, like EA would approve 20 articles from the same idiot about "Kansas City Blue Widget," "Baton Rouge Blue Widget," and the articles would be clumsily "rewritten" by one of those automated spinners that was so popular at the time, and supposed to make everyone rich by rewriting PLR. I didn't want any of my content associated with those articles.

But now I see they seem to have changed their game a bit (good job, Google probably had something to do with that). I don't know what to think about their pay policy or the pretty lengthy wait before articles get approved, but overall I think it's a better situation, sending content their way.

One thing's been consistent -- they have always jumped right on a plagiarism report. They've been great about that when I've had a problem.

Today, however I am annoyed with them. Had two articles not approved and I have re-submitted them. There goes my chances of getting to Platinum level early.
