What are some of the Best Ways To Attract Affiliates

I'm starting to do more events and I want to get some suggestions on ways to attract more affiliates to help me promote my events. What methods have you found effective for you.

Find similar products to yours and see what they are doing to promote it.

Better still, get in touch with the product owners and see if they want to promote you.

It takes some proactive effort, my system is...

1. Locate 30 of the top authority sites targeting the same customers (but not directly competitive)

2. Research their lead generation and sales process...how do they get traffic, do they have a newsletter, a blog, etc ...?

3. Find out if they market other affiliate products...the ones that do are likely to be more open to promoting others

4. Contact them making specific reference to something on their site, blog or in a product they have produced...that way you are personally acknowledging their presence rather than just making cold contact. Often, it's even worth buying their product if you really want to get them...it's harder to ignore customers than cold emails.

5. Tell them what your BIG idea is and mention that you have developed a new product - would they mind doing a quick review? Then, if they say yes, send them a free copy and follow up until they give you a review.

6. Once they have given you a positive review, you then mention a super affiliate offer where they can make large percentage for simply mentioning your product or publishing a review. Give them a link to tools so they can see promoting is dead-simple.

7. Better if you can organize them around an event - like a launch - that way they have a deadline for promotion.

Using this approach you ease your affiliate prospect into the decision of promoting for you.

You'll get a much better response, they will be more focused on their promotion and will stick with you much longer than if you contact them cold without having them review your product.

1) Show a high sales letter conversion rate
2) Give high commissions
3) Have great affiliate tools

With the high conversion rate affiliates will KNOW that they can make money off of your product/service.

With high commissions affiliates will KNOW that they can earn more promoting your product/service then maybe your competitiors.

With great affiliate tools, affiliates can grab what they want and use it to email out to their list, post to their blog etc.

I've found that if you mail someone a review copy of your product in the mail they tend to take notice much better. You need to target these potential affiliates well as you don't want to be trying to recruit folks who don't even have a website. Try to target folks with newsletters or lists they actively promote on their site. You would be surprised at the power of a solo email ad when the owner believes in the product and writes some compelling ad copy.

Get a list of 25 website owners (preferably with customer lists) and setup a nice package including your product. Print it out if it's a pdf. We are going to ship this via ups as this will almost force the user to open it up and see what it is just by curiosity.

It's nice to write a quick note and include the link to signup as an affiliate as well as your direct phone number as many will call you if they are interested.

You can also offer them a special commission higher than what you have listed on the site as incentive. Or perhaps offer them a personalized landing page with their logo or name on it to help brand the offer to them and lend some credibility with your offer to their list.

It may cost a bit more shipping via ups but just one of these people could potentially make you huge amounts of money in sales.

There are many more ways and I'm sure we will get some great ones in this thread.
