How would you monetize this blog?

Hey Warriors. I have this fantasy fiction series blog (link in signature), and I'm trying to figure out how to monetize it.

Right now, I'm working on adding content and building up a readership, but I'm getting to the point where I seriously need to think about monetizing. I know about all the typical options, but I'd like to be a little creative.

The most obvious option is Adsense, but right now my traffic is so low I doubt I'd get many clicks. And as I'm not targeting any high paying keywords anyway, those few clicks wouldn't be worth much. Plus, a lot of people use Ad Block Plus. What's more, I want to avoid turning my blog into an ad fest if I can.

The other obvious option is to package my novel in progress and sell it on amazon through create space. However, the book itself is a far ways away from being finished, so it will be a few months at least before that becomes an option.

Another thought I had was to create niche books that didn't take so long to make and sell those instead, but I'm not sure what topics to pursue.

Then of course there's paid membership, but I have no clue what I could offer that would even be worth a few dollars a month.

Help? I've studied IM for a long time, and I know how to usually go about doing it, but what I've learned so far hasn't covered anything like this.

Thanks.

Advertise Amazon fiction titles, the commission for conventional books is pretty small, someone recently posted about Amazon paying a huge percentage of Kindle book sales to the affiliates.
By the way I understand that having a physical version of a book available on Amazon can be a big traffic aid, even if all your sales are electronic versions, the book might be scanned into the Google book library and indexed for search. There are print on demand services that allow you to publish a first rate looking title with little setup cost.

You could sell a membership to read your novel. You could do this on Amazon by selling your subscriptions to your blog feeds and writing your novels as continuing posts.

This is a new sort of internet twist on selling continuing stories. I have heard that Dickens was paid by the word and wrote seril novels published in newspapers. I am not a literary historian, so I am not 100% sure on that, but selling a subscription to your blog feed could be an idea for you.

Actually, I have posted my Blog's RSS feed to Amazon. What about requiring a subscription to read the story? Or publishing each short story to kindle, and charging a small fee for each?

As Webapex said related books on Amazon, Kindle etc. What about a forum (paid) for like minded people to chat, what about pay per post (ie people pay for the chapter you are releasing), cafe press sci fi merchandise, t-shirts -threadless etc. What does that market like? Find something that would appeal/add value to your blog.

Is it really possible to make cash out of blogs?
    Aren't sites a better alternative?
I am runing a blog with AdSense and it's not generating much cash. I think it could have been better if it wasn't a blog but a web site.
    Am I wrong?

I'm thinking of selling individual chapters (or groups of chapters) on kindle for $2.99. The reason for the price is this is what Amazon requires in order to get a 70% commission; anything less than that and you get 35%. Plus they charge a 15% fee for some UK tax. Not to mention a fee of at least $0.15 to deliver the thing. Point being, anything less than $2.99 would result in near non-existent profit margins.

I agree with the monthly membership subscription option which works really well as readers can join for a certain period, month by month plus you can offer them a free trial.

This method is very flexible and allows different membership levels at different prices

I've written a blog post about this recently relating to a wordpress membership plugin
