Hello i´m new to IM, which Host to use?

Hello,

i´m newbie to IM and have read very much through this Forum and found a lot of interesting information here.
But it is time now to start and choose a good hosting company for my websites.
I have doubts espacially about the Google Slap problem. If one of my Sites would be blocked, what happens? All my Hosting account will be blocked, or only the domain.

Which Hosting companies are you using and what do you recommend them for?

Best regards,

mcnute

@mcnute, you welcome to this wonderful forum. I am sure you are in the right place. Take your time to learn IM and you would succeed but I would advice you not to make the mistakes I made - NEVER expect instant success and never get bitten by the roaming virus. You probably don't know the roaming virus - it is a deadly virus that kills beginners like you and me, we tend to try or do anything "hot" or "magical" and in the process keep roaming about without success.

I was not told this when I started and I had to roam for 9 months. You are better than me cos you know this forum earlier. You can never go wrong with the warriorforum, it is the best place for me and the many IM'ers here.

I've used several hosting companies, but I would only recommend Hostgator. I've raised a couple of tickets, which were mainly a result of my own stupidity, and they have always got back to me in super quick time. Their customer service is streaks ahead of any other provider, IMHO. And they are affordable too...

I use hostgator also - good package and good prices. I also have suffered from roaming as I enter into IM. I focus on one thing for a week or two and then try something else and never stick with something to really monetize it.

The only problems I have had with Hostgator were created by me, and fixed by them within minutes by phone. Great service for the money.

      Hi Roger,

I am another hostgator user and find them fantastic.
They have fantastic tutorials to learn from when you are new as well.

One other thing to think about.

I currently have a W.S.O on offer that focuses on teaching people how to develope secondtier income streams.

Some of the best paying 2nd tier are hosting companies.
Host Gator offer an affiliate program as well so if you sign for hosting, just give a thought to affiliate income as well that way if you play your cards right .

Hosting - affiliate income = zero.

      Good Luck.

You have landed at the best airport in IM

I have used four hosting companies over the years...

Dreamhost (variously bad and good... but VPS didn't get me good service)...
BlueHost (good hosting, reliable, and I like the support via IM)
      HostMonster (similar to BH)
BlueFur (good hosting, but crap service).

I'm looking at other hosting companies, too. I've kind of developed the sense that I look at a company's products, and choose what they are the best known for... not the more expensive or cheaper products. Choose the standard quality product.

For example: if you go to MacDonalds and order a steak burger, it may be the most expensive item on their menu, but it probably won't be good. Rather go to a better steak restaurant and order their standard burger... You might pay a little more, but you will get something more fulfilling. This also works in reverse. Don't always choose the premium product - esp. if the company isn't a premium company.

      Hi mcnute,

I have a reseller account with Hostgator.
I have multiple websites of my own hosted with them.
(See my sig file for a small portion of them)
And I have multiple websites being hosted for my clients as well.

They have been outstanding with me as a customer.
Always prompt to fix whatever comes up.
And, always, if the person I'm talking with doesn't have
a quick answer for me, they will go above them and get it.

I've always come away from their support with a positive experience.

      Hope this helps,
      Sandy

I love hostgator as well. I've had them for a year now and have had no problems. Their servers are fast and you can nicely install many scripts and applications. The biggest minus for me as that they control my DNS so anytime I wish to make a change I have to contact them which may or may not be an issue for you.
Also, if you get their shared account (which is what I have) you will not be able to host true video sharing sites as they require FFMPEG, MENCODER and FLVTOOL, you can't install those on a shared account.

Overall hostgator is the best value for your money in my opinion! I love the fact you get unlimited bandwidth with their best shared account. One of my sites has a monthly throughput of over 100GB and I have no problem!

    Cheers!

I bought a package with Tom Hua which includes 2 year hosting for free. I have about 10 domains hosted with them. My free hosting is coming up soon. When that happens, if the cost becomes too much, I will turn to Hostgator too. I kept my brand Domain (my name) with Hostgator all this time, I found them kept good.

I had a very bad experience with Xavier, one of the Internet Marketers who was selling a reseller hosting package. So, after this incident, I think it is safer to go with a reputable company such as Hostgator rather than deal with 1 person who is providing the service. Cos if the person doesn't respond & leave you in the lurch, there is nothing you can do whereas when you deal with a company, it's different.

I am very happy with both my Godaddy and Host Gator accounts. I really like that both offer real, live support. To me, that is worth a little extra in payments - but both are also very inexpensive.

Hi Vanquish, your computer's operating system has nothing to do with whether the hosting is Linux or Windows based, so no worries, whether you are running on Vista or XP, you can use Hostgator. From my understanding, Linux is more stable & reliable & less prone to virus attacks unlike Windows; therefore, you will notice most hosting companies offer Linux. Hope that helps.
