Hello All.

For some time now, I have been trying to promote (and, essentially, grow) my business with Twitter and Facebook.

I have for FB:
  • Created a Fan Page HERE IT IS
  • Asked my friends to like the page
  • Asked my friends to share the pages contents
  • "Liked" other, related pages
  • Made meaningful comments on other pages
  • Linked to the page on other sites

I have 18 likes...EIGHTEEN! Is there something I am doing wrong? Is there a way to get more people to "Like" my page, or to spread the word about my biz?

I have for Twitter:
  • created a Twitter account @onesunmedia
  • Began following field-related people
  • Thats it, Twitter just blows my mind!

Should I even be using Twitter?

If anyone has any advice, I would love to hear it!

Thanks!
Matt

I think for FB, the number of likes you get depends a lot on your page topic. More 'social' topics work well ie. anything to do with celebrities, etc.

Are you doing facebook ppc to promote your fan page? if your not it might be wise to do so to get some extra likes....people will perceive the value of the fan page on the amount of likes you get....if your not doing ppc...you might want to invest in it for a few weeks...just a thought

You can buy thousands of likes on Fiverr.

Is this an effective way to get likes? Do people see conversions from bought Likes?

Conversions? Likely not, but if a real consumer sees your page with only 18 likes, it isn't likely they are going to take your business seriously (sorry, but I've been there as well).

We ran a free wine contest and used an add to draw people to our page. We gained 1200 followers for about $50 in FB ad credits. We'll do something similar in the future.

Read our most recent articles on wine, this month it's that unappreciated region called Napa Valley.

I don't know... I haven't seen your FB page. All I can really tell
about your FB presence from the info I get here is that the FB link
under your name takes me to a page that says "Page Not Found"

I love the fact that people on the Warrior Forum are so ready
and willing to help but... seriously... how can they possibly give
you any meaningful advice without more information?

And... yes... you can buy all the "likes" you want but what good
is that in the end? They're all fake. But, let's assume someone
actually clicks over to your page because they see all the "likes."

Now, you're back where you started. There's a reason why only 18
people "like" your page. Buying fake "likes" won't change that. You'll
be back here in a month wondering why all you can get are fake "likes."

Let us have a look at your fanpage, and then we'll be able to analyze what the potential issue(s) are. The niche you're in can play a large factor in gaining popularity on Facebook, and of course an evergreen one would have the highest potential to do well. Additionally, are you using Twitter to link back to your Facebook fan page at all?

It really depends what your fan page is about. If it is "sex" or something like that, then a ton of people will like it. If it is just some random business it willl only get as many likes as its level of interest.

For real likes, not bought/bot likes, integrate a toolbar that has a like button in it. For every 5,000 visitors, we get ~100-150 likes. This is off a 100% e-commerce site. With useful blog content, you can get 100-150 likes off of one article.

Maybe I should elaborate a little more. I am sorry if I am being a little confusing. I have a video production company in Pittsburgh. I am trying to get likes in and around that area, so I am looking at targeted FB ads, but I am still looking to see if there are more ways.

Hopefully this makes things more clear.

Nice page. The first problem I see is the very first video
on the page has been "removed by the user" so people are
likely clicking away from the page when they see that.

The next thing is it's not really a high volume subject so
the journey to a high number of likes is probably a long one.

I haven't gotten into facebook marketing myself, but I have with Twitter. Twitter's pretty cool, and the way I use it is to provide updates, tips, and value to all of my followers.

Try to be clear what your fan page is about (sorry but not everybody in Pittsburgh knows One Sun Media), first impression must describe clearly your services also, what will people get out of "liking" your page, where's the bait??

I believe a few likes is ok, don't get discouraged and give great VALUE to those 18 likes. List building is not magic, it takes time and hard work, a lot of service and contact with your audience. Every list starts with one signup and you have to give that one subscriber superb reasons to talk about you.

If you don't know ASK, talk to those 18 fans, are they your buddies and liked your page out of pity? Are there past customers?

Keep focus on what you are aiming at, @Tsnyder said it right, what's the case of buying likes if they are all fake? I always end up with discussing it with clients- quality beats quantity every time, 5 are pure gold if they are real potential clients.

Who purchases video productions in Pittsburgh? People with anniversaries, weddings, graduations is my guess.

Target those markets (there are many techniques to do ppc campaigns in FB with laser accuracy) work on a good landing page and give a taste to possible subscribers of your outstanding service.

A "refer a friend" may also work, these are from the top of my hat and keep the content coming!

    To your success

Always think MORE twitter. One twitter page is not enough. Create about 6 twitter pages, all with different themes and different keywords (related to your subject). Then get it automated to chase down 300-500 new people per day....
