I've just created my first "real" niche blog. I'm feeling a bit lost as to where to go from here. So far I have: * Built the blog * Submitted it to about 40 bookmark sites using Social Marker * Pinged it with Ping-O-Matic (not even real sure what pinging is) * And submitted a few articles to EZA Seems like I often read posts from others about how they put up a blog and did this and that, and within hours they're number one on Google. I searched Google with my keywords and so far, nothing. What's next? |

depends what keywords you're optimizing for?! General Keywords are going to take longer and you have to take into effect your competition for your keywords. |

I just noticed you have a sleep related site in your signature. I have a site on sleep apnea and wondered if you'd like to exchange links. If so,PM me and we'll exchange information. As far as what is next....sometimes it takes time. I have a few sites on page one in google and some got there quick, while others took weeks or even months. A few ideas off the top of my head: Getting inbound links helps, especially from related sites. Try posting at forums and blogs that are related to your niche. Get involved in the conversation and add value. Add the site in your email signature. Submit to digg and stumble upon. Hope this helps! |

BACKLINKS! Find places on squidoo, blogspot, & others that allow you to make comments & leave a link. Make sure comment is relevant. Ask other website owners to link to your page. Search for keywords you're targeting and note top 10. Run those sites through Yahoo Site explorer and find sites that are linking to them. Try to get your link on those sites too. Find questions on Yahoo answers and answer them. Submit URL to directories & blog directories. Submit RSS feed to RSS directories. Submit more articles to EZA. After they've been indexed by google, submit them to other directories, ie goarticles, searchwarp, articlesbase... |

Not bad. One post, one link. LOL. Thanks Joanne, I just PM'd you. Thanks for the advice, all of you. Sounds like I've done what I'm supposed to do, and will definitely work on the backlinks. I LOVE THIS FORUM! (A LA that country song called) "I Love This Bar" |

Yes, work on generating inbound backlinks to your site. Related sites are better, but any link helps in the long run. You should also learn about the difference between DoFollow links and NoFollow links, if you don't already. Getting links on sites that do not use NoFollow links and have a higher Google Page Rank will help in getting higher in the Google search results. |

Using top keywords in your first 3 or 4 paragraphs are key to success. I think of it like a puzzle. find the top 30 keywords and try to use only those words in the frist 2 paragraphs, seed it heavy but make it look like you're trying to say something, get rid of as many ( If's and's or's and the's ) it's hard I know, but it works. Also you need solid backlinks, from blogs or websites related to your to get started, at least 35 to start off. If your site is new, google may not look it over till after 3 months, so don't get upset. Google doesn't like to rank new sites much. Here's a clue, when you write an article with link to your site, how strong are you keywords, a 3000 to 10,000 word article should get ranked on google in 2 hours time if you know your stuff, if not your keywords are not strong enough. Also getting ranked on google really has nothing to do with how many back links you have. But you do need some backlinks to get ranked or google won't look at your site. Also being ranked on google is far more important than having a ton of backlinks if you want high traffic to your site. Here's why.... a highly top rank google site can bring in 1000 hits a day or more lets say, but 1000 backlinks to your site, may bring in 100 people a day from blogs. And the reason why is simple, because maybe only a handful of people who even see the backlinks on other peoples websites and blogs, and only 10 % at best will even click it.That's the truth !! But having high backlinks will help you sell your website for more, backlinks is like stocking money in the bank if you sell your website. I feel a good website should average at least 2,500 to 5000 people a day. Not only do I believe this, I also believe in doing this on ebay. Draw a huge crowd and make money. |
