I have a wordpress site that is based on a misspelling. it's called Faceboock. At the moment it is getting around 400 views per day from the search engines with absolutely no seo work.

I have a couple of facebook related clickbank product reviews on i at the moment but they are not really converting well.

I need some ideas on how to utilize this potential?????

Please ..what do you think would be the best way to make use of this site?

I am not here to scare you but I would be worried about copyright. The name of your website could get you in a lot of trouble.

I am not here to scare you but it sound like FACEBOOK.com

They aren't converting because people are looking for Facebook, not some lame Clickbank crap. The site looks like it is geared for webmasters anyway so there is a double miss.

I would have to agree with both comments so far. The copyright issue may be a bit scary, only because Facebook is so powerful. As far as the site look, I do not see the average Facebook user that accidentally went to your site being interested.

Honestly I would just give it up and concentrate on something that will make you a profit for the long haul. What you are engaging in is legally considered domain squatting, and there are $100k+ fines if you are found engaging in it. So really it's up to you, can you get away with it for awhile, sure. Will you be required to relinquish the domain to facebook if they contact you : YES. Will you be required to pay any damages : Probably not, but there is always that distinct possibility.

The bottom line is, once people land on your page, they are going to know immediately it's not the site they are trying to get to, and your bounce rate is going to be incredibly high. So those 400+ visitors you're getting might as well be 5 visitors a day. That will actually take 10 seconds to look at any offer you throw at them.

okay...well that makes sense ..I just checked and you're right the bounce rate is ridiculous.

I didn't realize it was illegal tho...

You'll see a C&D and probably a document stating to forfeit all profits from the the site to Facebook. Don't comply, I dare you :p

Basically you're trying to steal traffic, which is not going to work. It's like owning gOOOgle.com and expecting to get successful conversions, it just doesn't work. If they aren't looking for your website, definitely don't expect them to pull out a credit card.

    ^^ Yup.
You want to avoid those copyright problems.

You generally won't get sales with misspellings. Firstly, like Rich stated, they want the social site Facebook they'll arrive, go "What the heck", look at the URL bar and then realize it's the wrong site. They'll type in "Facebook" and you get not one penny.

The only thing I can think of to make money out of this is a huge banner wich says GO TO FACEBOOK or something like that. If you can get facebook to pay you for that banner.. then again I wouldnt try that for your own safety

Edit: Quick thought, maybe you can try to sell the URL to facebook. But im not an expert in copyright laws. Dunno if that is illegal too.

The only idea I'm having for this domain is to start a Facebook page which appeals to a broad range of people, something like "I hate my job" or "I like Cookies" (just some silly examples) and then redirect the traffic from your misspelled domain directly to the Facebook page.

As a consequence people get to Facebook (where they initially wanted to go) and you could capture a few fans and make money off them.

I think this is a great idea unless Facebook seizes the domain which it likely will if it finds out and gains popularity. I would just get rid of the domain because it has many legal implications.
