Affiliate Banners, are .swf Banners Dangerous? for Affiliate Animation Banners?

I want to make some banners,

My own banners are going to be hosted on my server, which affiliates can copy and paste the code, and place on their websites or blogs,

When their website visitors click on these banners on their sites/blogs then they wil go to MY sale page with that affiliates affiliate code.

what would be the code for that?

and I heard Using SWF Banners for this is Unsafe? is that true ? {somthing about the No/less control of the Hyperlink on the banner}

The thing is, I want some Basic animation in the banner (Movement)

    Why not using animated GIFs, instead of SWF? The user can copy the GIFs, the associated code, then simply replace the affiliate ID.

      Any advantages of SWF comapred to GIFS ?

      {I know the disadvantage that GIF seem better}

      But can you make more crisp/better Effect banners using SWFs?

      or the same type of banners can be made in gifs VS SWFs?

        1. GIFs are hard to resize.
        2. SWF can have "inteligence". GIFs are dumb.

        That is, a GIF can create animation by showing a number of picture in a certain order, but can't react to events, like mouse click. A SWF can have a script inside it.

            5 banners for 5 different shapes (sizes) is fine.
            1 banner for 5 different sizes is not going to work.

            Personally, I'd go with animated GIFs, because they work even if the visitor doesn't have flash activated in his browser.

                It is a basic banner, with basic animation. No Clever script inside required.

                Another Question

                The banner animator has done some Designs in SWF (basic animation). If he changes the output Export to GIF, Wil the quality be reduced, compared to that of SWF ?

                  It depends. The animated GIFs use at most 256 colors (like a regular GIF), while a SWF can use 16 Milion colors. If the images contains mostly text, it might not be a noticeable difference, because the original image has close to 256 colors.

                    Will this buzzing effect look fine or blurred/faded on the GIF Output?

                      That depends on the designer's skills.
