How to check buyer's record based on paypal transaction id?

Hi,

I run a WSO.
After purchase, for some valid reasons, a buyer provides his/her paypal transaction id to the seller. Is there a way for the seller to cross-check his/her record at paypal, based on the transaction id provided?

Can someone enlighten me on this?

    I think the transaction ID that they buyer gets and the one you get are different - I could be wrong but that's what I've found.

    It may be possible to check by their email address perhaps.
