Selling product with no affiliate program?

I found a product that I would like to sell as an affiliate. It is made by a small company that does not have an affiliate program. I emailed the owner and she is interested in me offering it for sale on my site but I'm not sure how to proceed so there is a record when someone clicks from my site and orders. Any thoughts on how I can do this (simply please since I am no techie.) Thanks.

The simplest answer - get them to sign up to an affiliate network, who can guide her through setting up the tracking codes etc. Alternatively, if you trust the person and their CMS supports it then they might be able to provide reports to you on a regular basis. Finally though - you could get them to build another affiliate tracking solution into their site. How easy this will depend on the CMS.

They can sign up with PayDotCom.com or PaySpree.com both allow you to add one product for free and is relatively easy for the owner to do as all they need is a few minutes and a paypal account.

I use both PDC and PaySpree and both are comparable to Clickbank.

its better to have an affiliate program if you want to increase your sales.

Another option which wouldn't involve the "small company" and therefore would make them more likely to want to engage with you, would be to re-sell their product, that way you set-up your own website with a check-out and complete the transaction, however you only pay xx% to the company who owns the product (whatever amount you would agree to revenue share as an affiliate in the first place).

Being able to sell the product through an affiliate program has it's obvious advantages. The only downside is other people getting a small slice of the pie. If you could become a reseller though for the product and work out something with the company directly would be a great idea to.
