    Officially (or should I say, seriously, like being seriously engaged in internet marketing), about five years. Unofficially (just dabbling here and there included with the "serious" and "official" part), about 7 years.

    It took me two years to personally realize that I could make a full time living on the internet and and another three years to finally break all ties with bricks-and-mortar employment.

      Eighteen months and just starting to make money now. Why? As with most people new to IM there's a lot to play with. There's temptation to get distracted everywhere you turn. Try and resist the tempation to buy every thing you see - otherwise you will quickly become overwhelmed.

      You need to concentrate on one thing and one thing only, whether it's article marketing video marketing or whatever. Once you become an expert at it then you should start making money. Most importantly, start building a mailing list right from the start and concentrate on getting subscribers on your list.

    I am doing this for almost 1.5 years. When I started I don't even know how to get a gmail account and surf the web. But now I am proud to say that I am an Internet savvy and know most of the stuff (not everything).

    15.5 full-time years and maybe another year before that. A decent majority of the first 5 years was spent working as a freelancer while I messed with a few endeavors of my own on the side.

    The best advice I can recommend to stay in it long-term is focus on quality and be ready to adapt to change that is inevitable.

    * years already..
    First 4 years didn't gave me any profits at all.. Its all not so easy, you need a lot of time to make a research, not just buying tons of scam ebooks..
    So basically, best thing is to research everything on yourself may give real profits at last... And don't believe those 20$ ebooks offering you millions@
