Will Wordpress become another Joomla

Now I know a lot of Warriors love Joomla however years ago when it was called Mambo it was the most efficient and easy to use program around and we made hundreds of sites using it.

Unfortunately with all the upgrades and over complicated processes it became almost unusable for newbies and many of my clients to be able to manage their sites.

Now before you jump on me for a slight bagging of Joomla please know that I love the system but it just became to complicated for many of my clients and they are who are important to me.

We moved a lot of them to Wordpress and this has proved a great program to allow them to get back to basics.

Over the last year wordpress has gone through a huge upgrade and I am getting concerned again that it may head the way of Joomla and just get to complicated.

Having said this I have just uploaded the new version and it reminds me of the old Mambo and the new format is very nice.

Do you think Wordpress will upgrade itself out of the popularity it has now by complicating the processes.

There is more to the issue then just how "complex" the system is. One of the MAJOR issues that turned me off of joomla was its security. As a member of a lot of webmaster forums, I see more "help me my joomla site was hacked" threads then I care to count.

On the other hand, I see far less of those types of threads with wordpress, and especially drupal.

Wordpress might get more complex. That is just the nature of things, especially with software. Look at microsoft, instead of streamlining their operating systems, the coders add more bloat. As the wordpress developer base grows, everyone will want to add their little part. So it would be natural for the wordpress code to grow.

Another example - At one time PHPBB was the most popular forum software on the internet. They let their security slip and now other forums are taking the lead. Once that lead has been lost its going to be difficult to regain it.

But as long as the wordpress security stays strong and the core features stay easy to use, wordpress will stay in the lead.
