Resale Rights The Right Way?

I have never offered resale rights to a product, and I'm looking to do so now.

Any suggestions, words of caution, or other advice on what to do/not to do?

For example, does anyone have a "resale rights license", tips?

What must I be careful to avoid?

Be very careful how you word your license. For example, don't say it can be given away and also say minimum selling price is $17.00. If you mean it can be given away as a bonus to a paid product or in a paid membership site, then say it that way.

Be specific whether the license holders can pass on resell rights to their customers or not.

I'm sure you have some products with resell, master resell and private label rights on your hard drive, so take a look at a few of them to see how they're written. Get ideas from them for how you can be more specific with yours if they seem unclear. (Many are.)

While a lot of people will tell you a lot of great things about Resale Rights, I'll tell you what I do to make a killing out of them...

MAKE THEM EXCLUSIVE... Make them available to only a select few (Max 150) and then charge a premium pricing for it... Heck I even buy my members a new domain for each resell right products they pay fpr, get graphics done with their name on it... And all they have to do is drive traffic. Basically its as simple as adding another MASSIVE stream of income to their bank with doing virtually nothing. Make it as high quality a product as you possibly can... Like its the last you'd ever create!

if you take this advice seriously, you're gonna make it fast...

One more thing... Just say that you will take action against anyone who would give the product away for Free! Even if you won't... saying that would you more good than bad.

Be careful with giving Master Resell Rights. A couple of years ago I put up my first WSO with no real clue what I was doing. I sold a package that I normally sold for $37 on my own site (lots of them!) with Master Resell Rights and put no other stipulations. Within a week it was being sold on Ebay for 99 cents. As you can guess, my product was completely devalued. I regularly see it on freebie sites still today.

You are right, this can happen.

That's another reason why you'd want to make it a premium, exclusive service limited to a handful of people.

When you sell a product with resale rights, how do you make sure the buyers doesn't (mistakenly or purposely) resell the resale rights?

there are so many types, MRR, RR, PLR, that people hardly remember somtimes which rightsthey have to a product...

do you enforce or follow up with your buyers to make sure they are NOT changing RR for MRR or PLR?

You have to make your terms as clear as possible. Just check out some of the WSOs and see how they have done it. Copy the ones closest to what you need, then edit it to fit exactly what you want.

As far as enforcement goes...it is a lot more difficult than you might think. I'll let someone else chime in on that.

  • I operate a site which deals with resale rights information products. Below are some ideas to include in your license files dependent on whether offering resale rights, master resale rights, or private label rights to the product.

    Can claim authorship (PLR)
You can edit, modify and add to the content (PLR)
Portions may be broken down and used as web content or blog posts (PLR)
Can be used as an e-course/autoresponder sequence (MRR or PLR)
Can be broken down into smaller articles (PLR)
Can be combined to create longer articles (PLR)
Can submit to article sites (PLR)
    Can be sold as PLR.
Can be packaged or bundled with other paid products
Can be offered as a bonus with paid product
Can be added to paid "vault-type" membership sites
Can be added to free membership sites
    Can sell Private Label Rights
    Cab sell Master Resale Rights
    Can be given away

These are just a few. As you can see some are similar in meaning but are worded differently.

Hope this gives you a start for your licensing file.

      Lakshay,

Best advice in this topic. Having less customers makes it "easier" to control how its delivered.

People love exclusivity and will pay a premium for it.

I see this as being more profitable in the long run than just selling 10k PLR, MRR or whatevrer type of ebooks- yourself

      Simple, profitable, advice.

      Thanks
