What to do with 8 hours a day

Hello,

I have two receptionists / customer service reps that each work 8 hours every day. Between them they have approx 4 hours per day of down time.

In their down time they current do word searches or browse facebook.

My question to the forum... If you had a person working essentially 8 hours a day, what type of SEO / Link building tasks would assign to them?

I want to say instead of doing word searches for the next 4 hours today do this instead_____________________ (fill in the blank)

I have multiple websites most are in the Business to Business market.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Todd

Social Bookmarking - They can even do this on Facebook

Might start with services like Social Monkee and Bookmarking Wiz...

You could also have then write articles or autoresponder messages or if they aren't that skilled they can submit articles and copy/paste AR messages...

    Hope this helps

Forum posts, blog comments, search for affiliates (if you have a product), search for guest posts/write guest posts, direct link searches, submit press releases, create Web 2.0 sites directed towards your optimized pages, create high PR/.edu/.gov backlinks, etc.

If this still only fills up a portion of the day, I would get them working on multiple sites or drop an employee for cost efficiency. Once you teach workers to do any SEO, you can have them do the same tasks for 10 sites if you want in a day.

    Are these employees of yours?

If so, why pay two members of staff for eight hours each (total = 16 hours) to do a combined eight hours work?

Why not lay one off and let the other do the entire eight hours therefore halving your costs.

Or pay each employee for only four hours to complete the eight hours of work.

Until you find something worthwhile and that produces results for you, this seems like the only explanation.

A few tasks you could have them do in their spare hours without knowing your business model include:

    - forum posting
    - blog commenting
    - article writing
    - finding and contacting affiliates
    - customer support

    - Have them make facebook pages in different niches then start ads for those pages on facebook
    - Have them cold call businesses (hey, it'll produce more leads than a word search)
    - have them learn about different techniques in your niche then execute on those techniques

  • If you have a tool like Market Samurai you can show them how to reverse engineer competitors websites and then add a link to your site on blogs etc where they have got their links from. Even if they just build 5 links a day to each site, that will be 150 + high PR links each month.

Build links it's the most boring and time-consuming SEO task to do but it pays off

It really depends on how competitive the keyword you are trying to target is.
If it is really easy you may not need to do that much to get great results.
But start of with good website optimization, directory submissions, article marketing. See how things go.
    Hope this helps:-)

You have two people... Teach them how to do sales, cold call every business in the yellow pages... you will be able to hire 2 more people minimum after that, and still be making a killing.

You should have then start writing, creating content, producing videos, and making products all based around your niche.

They should each post to the blog on your site 1 time per day with an article that would help the readers.

They should each write a small report to be given away in exchange for name/email so you can build a list.

They should each do some social bookmarking each day.

You should get 1 twitter account, and have each one of them update it with whatever whenever.... it's about getting your name out there, so Go Colt, I just ate at Apple Bee's, I love that place or WHATEVER is ok

Again, like mentioned before it depends a lot on what your business is too.
