How do you beat those beautiful days?

The weather is getting so nice...I have the hardest time actually working and not going to the park.

This is the main reason I don't live near a beach right now haha...I would be surfing constantly and wouldn't get anything done.

How do you guys and girls stay focused on your day's work when it's so beautiful outside?

        Made me LOL

Take your laptop outside. Nothing like sitting infront of people making money in the sun on your laptop - All the while they think you're just browsing the internet

But deep down you think, "fools, world domination is at my feet, I CAN FEEL IT".

Ok, maybe not to that extent... but you get my drift

*EDIT* My bad, quoted the wrong guy... Was meant to quote "madmmd".

        Because he said:

I close all the doors and the windows of my house, put on my headphones and play some heavy techno..

Try to sequence your day. Write out time slots on a notepad all that needs accomplished within those slots. Then stick to it.

That way you can build personal time into your working hours.

Oh - and wear a watch when you go out...no cheating.

If you have set work hours, that can always be arranged to end later in the day so that you can have personal time and still get your work done.

I know what you mean though. I've stared at the computer screen for so long sometimes I get eyestrain.
Bring your laptop outside with you but don't forget to look around once in awhile and appreciate life

I rely on 2 things: music and fallback tools.

    1) find music which motivates you and gets you i a state of immediate excitement and motivation. It's the shortcut to accessing your motivational states.

    2) falllback tools (these are clickbank checks which i photocopied, paypal stats which i printed out, and other financial/ life achivements which i'm really proud of). I have them in a plastic folder and it's always on my working desk and close to me.

EVerytime i feel tired or unmotivated to get things done, i'll look through the file and it will really give me a huge boost to achieve even more and thus get things done. I learnt this technique from a mentor of mine, and it has really helped me a ton!

    Hope this helps my friend

Do some "work", then play for a bit. I tend to take a long lunch break on those days and head outside to do something enjoyable, then I'm ready to go back inside to my computer and make things happen.

If I am not mistaken Victor Frankl wrote in his book, ("mans search for meaning"), that he loved mountain climbing. He use to long to be outdoors during those nice sunny days. However, he spoke of how he used to bury himself in his work, and, research to finish his project.

A working balance I presume is necessary.

P.S.They didn't have laptops back then, and, I guess lugging all your research outdoors was not what people were doing.

Note: This is not a direct quote, but, my interpretation from memory when I read the particular brief sentence/paragraph(s) in the book years ago.

Real easy. If I don't work, I don't get paid. However, I have finally given myself permission to take a couple of hours for lunch and enjoy the weather, running errands, whatever. I kind of work a split-shift. Breaks up the day.

I have "off-days" where I just hang at the beach or whatever and regain my sanity. I think it's healthy.

I just take the laptop out to the book store or coffee shop when the urge to go out becomes irresistible. Perhaps I should also try to get comfortable with using tablets (since there are mainstream tablets available now that give you the full Web experience, with browser tabs and full Flash capability), as this will make it even more convenient to do computing away from the home at the park, or wherever else I can grab a 3G or Wifi internet connection!

I do this often too when I can't stand to be in my office any longer lol.

I definitely go to the park often with my laptop but that usually doesn't end up a good thing. There's always a cute group of girls playing frisbee or something and then you can say good bye to my focus :p

Perhaps that is why there are so many successful marketers from the UK? The dreary weather there makes it ideal for them to just stay in and focus on their IM!

Exactly Travis, I may stop by in the park when I go out with my laptop, but I definitely try not to spend too much time there if I'm trying to work, as there are way too many distractions for me to be productive!

Besides, sitting hunched over a laptop at the park bench isn't going to be very comfortable, especially if it's a sunny day and you're squinting like crazy just to make out what's on your screen.

  • I tried the "take my laptop outside" approach and never worked: sunlight keeps me from viewing my screen, uncomfortable sitting positions kills my productivity, etc. So all in all I dont get jack done LOL.

I kind of need to be at *MY* desk to be productive.
