Default Squidoo, Hubpages, Blogger...Other Free Resources To Cast My Net?

Hi.....

Here's a project I'm working on:

1. Create a new website on a specific niche.
2. Find five long tail keyword phrases in that niche.
3. Create one page of content on the website for each long tail keyword (5 pages of content total).
4. For each long tail keyword phrase, I create a blog post on Blogger, a lense at Squidoo, and a hub at Hubpages. All of the content being keyword phrase rich. All the posts, hubs, and lenses point back to my website.

My question is: what other free resources are available for me to create content that links back to my website?

Better yet, what are the EFFECTIVE resources (ie. Google loves them and ranks them quite high)?

Thanks in advance,

KateD

Hi Kate

Sounds like a good plan - just off the top of my head:

Google Knol
Wordpress.com blog
Weebly
Ezine Articles
Go Articles

I may be back with more

I really like Weebly. Freewebs is another good one that I haven't seen mentioned yet.

Check out the 40+ free blog hosts from Mashable.com then just go down the list of each blog site here: 40+ Free Blog Hosts

The best sites are already mentioned above, but this will give you a few more to extend you content to and you may also want to add them to more article directories as well.

Can you actually get traffic from these sites or just backlinks?

Viktor,

The traffic really depends on the keyword phrase that you choose, and the level of competition it has, but yes if done correctly you can get a significant amount.

As far as additional traffic sources, I would suggest getting involved in some of the video sites, including youtube and googlevideo

hi Kate,
It's a good start in taking action. I have summarized a list myself and am planning to do the same for my niche blog and dominate the search engines
But been too lazy to start and am looking around for softwares (within my budget) to do the job.

For articles directories, i have these from my bookmarks.
Article Directory List
Article Directory List - Directory Critic
Article Marketing-20 Best Article Directories Where Each Article Marketer Should Submit Articles | Home for Profits

These are some additional directories that you can submit to.

For web2.0 networks, these will be the ones that i am planning to links my site from.

Hubpages.com PR5
Squidoo.com PR8
Wordpress.com PR8
Blogger.com PR8
Tripod.com PR7
Geocities.com PR9
MSN Spaces Live PR8
Wikidot.com PR6
Aboutus.org PR6
Weebly.com PR7
Zimbio.com PR6
Wetpaint.com PR6
Tumblr.com PR7
Associatedcontent.com PR6
Wikispaces.com PR7
Quizilla.com PR7

If done properly and gradually, I believe traffic and ranking will definitely increased..

P/S: Please also remember to ping every single post and every single site you make. This is very important.

I'm spending too much time doing nothing.. :p

Can someone tell me if it's possible to get your pages ranking if you only have one post of 350 words for example.

Thank you!

Any of the major article submission sites as well
as the free blog networks such as AOL and MSN
(among others) should work for you. You could
also submit some free press releases.

Bookmark each page at Propeller which is way outdoing Digg referral traffic for me lately.

Comment on tons of blogs that talk about what your site talks about. You will get referral traffic and 1 out of 10 blogs disable no follow so you get link juice.

OK, I'm going to ask this really bluntly. All these blog sites ... is the suggestion you put up a spammy blog at ten+ sites and point back to your main site? Or am I missing the point?

Doesn't have to be spammy, you can still sell stuff on them

Because I've never seen anyone have ten blogs pointing to one site that weren't spammy. If anyone would like to show me an exception I'd be interested to see it.

Non-spammy blogs take a ton of time and work.

I know this site is a good blog site because I have a site rank #2 in google for the keyword: Your Six Pack Quest Review

That I only promoted for about 3 hours at most
It has a PR 0 ranking and it was create less than a month ago.

Okay. Well just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean
it doesn't exist. And I doubt that anyone is going to come
here and post their blogs and give away their niches to
prove any points to you.

Have you checked out Craig Beckta's Secret Affiliate Code? He lists tons of high PR blogs you can create to accomplish your goal. In addition to that you can also check out Social Media Daily. Hit it up on Google and there are references in there for days.

If the blogs have quality content that can help people solve their problems, while containing links back to your authority blog where people could find further info, how would they be spammy? I think the words spam, spamming and spammy are used much to losely these days.

My intention was not to create anything "spammy" as well. My goal is just to have as many "nets" as I can.

It won't happen overnight, of course. Well, unless I outsource a lot of the content creation. But I'm not going to use an software/script to scrapge together content.

I'm going to do this with 100% original content that provides the reader with useful and interesting info.

Hi Kate,

I'm currently doing something similar like this. But I'm confused on how to go about doing this. If you don't mind sharing, are you going to be using the same article to post in these other sites? Or are you going to change the article up a bit so the article posted to each site is a bit different?

Thanks
Lydia

Lydia,

Ideally I am going to use 100% original articles. However, as the list of possibilities keeps growing, I'll probably have to re-write the articles I am using on the article directories (except for EZA) and some of the smaller websites.

I want the articles used on Squidoo, Hubpages, and larger (more popular) websites to be totally original.

This isn't a quick process, I know.

Realistically, to use original content for everything, will take me quite some time.

But I will also outsource a lot of the content creation as well. Right now, I have 30 articles (10 articles in three different niches) being written for me. I'll write some of my own, of course. But I definitely use ghostwritiers to help me out. Well worth the investment for me.

Hey don't forget article base. Roumor has it that some webmasters are getting article from this website and putting them in their pages and this is because of the HTML box below the article which enables webmasters to put your articles without changing anything .
Awesome if you really want some really great traffic.
Plus have you checked out the Alexa ranking, Buzzle, Go articles and the rest are going low and that's why i recommend Aricle base.
Hey confirm with Alexa, they keep on changing.

Freewebs? Have you found that you've gotten a lot of traffic from there? My website is on Freewebs but the only other members I've heard from were teenagers wanting me click on their sites. This is very interesting, I'll have to have another look at it as a resource.

Thanks for mentioning it.

So, once you have your blogger blog with your long tail phrase with links back to your site... then what? (Besides bookmarking)

You only have one post on that one blog? Do you maintain the blog adding posts here and there?

Basically my question is: How do you maintain "feeder sites"? Or do you?

Hi...

Your post is fine.

Actually, I am writing one blog post for each of the 5 long tail keywords (so 5 posts in total).

This is just a start up plan. There will have to maintenance as well (probably adding a new blog post every week or month to keep it semi active).

I could write another 5 posts on those same long tail keywords (all new, but about the same phrase), or find 5 additional long tail keywords to focus on.

I will give you a tip I use with Blogger blogs that I know I won't add much content to: I don't display the Post Date. So there are no dates on my blog at all.

What you don't want to happen are for blog visitors too see a date that's months, or even years in the past. The visitor will unknowingly discount some of your content because they think its outdated (even if it isn't).
