Article Marketing for Traffic

How do you manage to get people to see your article when submitting to Ezine, Articlesbase, Go Articles etc.?

I've just checked the stats on one of my first articles I ever wrote on EzineArticles. I submitted it July 2010 and have recieved 18 views, and 5 clicks. Considering I put a lot of time and effort into that article, that doesn't seem worth it at all.

Is it literally a case of submitting hundreds / thousands to make it worthwhile?

According to Ezine Articles, the average article generates between 25 and 250 views per year and has an average CTR (click through rate) of about 3%.

So your 18 views is not particularly good but your CTR is great. How many of the 5 converted?

For views it could be that you need more attention grabbing titles, better keyword research, or the competition in your niche is high. Your clickthrough rate is good though.

But the real traffic comes from syndication not article directories.

That's because in my experience EZA mainly builds link strenght to the targeted domain. If your niche topic is highly competitive and there are 1,000's of others proclaiming they've the best solution all through articles on EZA, you'll need a great eye-catching title, good entertaining or informal content and bio box that converts.

Here are some quick blurbs I recently finished... (example perhaps...)

      Do Your Own Job

If you ask me how to achieve goals, I would answer you with a question: "What are your goals?" Years ago, when I was single and young, I had only one goal: "To be successful in business." This was of course a very vague concept but I was young and ignorant. I wanted success but I didn't know what it meant or how to achieve it.
I sat down I thought, "What am I good at?" The answer was very simple in fact. I was good at the Internet. So I started my internet business. I made a plan, wrote down possible problems and designed a solution for every problem I could think of. Cable mites could eat the fiber optic cables; viruses could kill all the computers in the world. I jotted down a plan and adjusted from there. This is how to achieve goals. Know yourself; believe in yourself; set your goals; make your plans; and start from your strongest orientation.
      Hormones and Goals

When a person is successful, his or her brain secretes hormones that make him or her feel happy. When people achieve goals, they are rewarded by their brains. This is the automatic reward mechanism of our body. From fish to birds, monkeys to elephants, every high functioning creature in the world have this rewarding mechanism in their brains. In the wild, from migration to reproduction behaviors, everything is regulated with this mechanism. We may have fallen far from the nature and our intelligence may have defeated our primal instincts. However as long as our hearts beat, this rewarding mechanism keeps working. Even when we feel unsuccessful, it rewards us for our small victories. These small victories are the triggers of this mechanism and they can be good waypoints to take us to our goals. Our body and mind works in harmony with our feelings. When we try to achieve goals, we are in fact trying to experience the feeling of achievement, the happiness of success and the joy of accomplishment. We need these feelings like water and food.
      Determining our Function

"What is your function in life?" The hit man portrayed by English actor Vinnie Jones asks this question to his victims before he kills them in the cult 2004 Japanese movie "Survive Style 5+." This is a very essential question. It doesn't ask you what you are doing for a living or your nationality and religion. This question is solely about function. Before achieving your goals you must first understand your function in this world and change it if there is need. When you know that all you work for will come back to you for your happiness, you will automatically start to work harder for achieving your goals. The time to wake up or going to bed won't mean anything to you anymore. Because you will be your own boss even if you are still working in the same office. This point of view will shape your future and your goals.

Build backlinks to your articles on somebody elses site you lose all of the backlinks if or when your articles are deleted. Build backlinks to your own sites first.

Exactly build a bunch of backlinks to your articles, and put up some social bookmark profiles

It is definitely all about submitting several hundred. You should be writing a few articles every day if you're looking into article marketing as a way to build your traffic.

I'd say a minimum of 2 per day if you have another project you're working on, like creating a product or something else really important.

If you're just focusing on building traffic to your offer, you could do 5-10 per day and also consider another source like video too, submitting 1-2 videos per day.

Internet marketing is marketing... it's all about the numbers. The more articles you write, the more views you'll get, the more clicks you'll get and ultimately more sales.

I have found that writing a few articles first and checking to see if you get natural traffic is a good way to start. Then start to work on articles that already have traffic

EZA send out a great report each month showing your articles and how they perform. Also, they give you keywords that people use to find your article.

Remember, what people search for in EZA can be completely different from what they search for in Google.

There are a bunch of different answers to this. However, simply publishing more articles won't increase the views you get.

An easy solution is to Tweet each article, share it on your Facebook page, bookmark it - just get it out there, so that people don't have to physically log onto the directories to know that it's out there.

However, you could be making mistakes in your actual writing that's holding you back - that you may not be able to fix with promotion.

As a couple of posters have pointed out, your titles may not be good enough. After all, visitors on article directories have tons of different articles to choose from. Most simply scan and look for a title that grabs their attention. If your title doesn't stand out, you're not going to get as many views.

And, you'll need to make sure that your target keyword comes as close to the beginning of the title as possible. For example, if your target keyword is "piano tuning", the title "Piano Tuning - 5 Tips for Doing it Yourself" is a much better title than "5 Tips for Doing Piano Tuning Yourself".

Also, are you properly optimizing the body of your articles with the right keywords? If your articles are optimized, you have a much better chance of getting them to appear in the search engine results (and, thus, getting the potential for more views)

I get very few views on my articles too. I think that is because I don't have very many articles published, and the competition is stiff. It helps to build links to your profile page. Just look at Angela.

Her article about backlinks has about 10 backlinks.

    goarticles.com/article/Backlinks-What-they-are-and-how-to-get-them/1151743/

The article itself has as of right now 98,589 views. Not too shabby. My articles have a dozen views each...

I think the most impressive article view count i've seen is this ladies:

How to Tell if a Guy Likes you - Five Signs He's Interested

She's actually in the same niche as me and has over 4,000,000 views on that single article. Incredible.

If you're looking to get more people ON the article directories to
look at your article, you'll have to:

    * pick a niche with a lot of interest
    * write on a topic that's hot and trending
    * grab attention with a punchy headline
    * get on 'lists' (like Most Recent or Most Viewed on EzineArticles.com)

If you want to maximize your chances of having your article viewed
even OUTSIDE the directories, you've got to make them attractive for
content syndicators and publishers who will re-use it.

    * write in-depth valuable content
    * avoid being self-promotional (or even promotional)
    * word count should be ideal for their needs (usually 800 to 1,200)
    * write about topics that are relevant to their audience
    * be proactive about letting those publishers/syndicators know

And yes, it is a numbers game. If you write 10 articles, one of them
may be a winner. If you write 100, ten of them might. And so on

    Hope this helps.

    All success

Some articles will only get you few hundred views a year.
Some will get you several thousand a day.

Those two sentences will not tell you which is the more successful article.

If you're marketing a technical ebook on restoring and repairing old typewriters then your articles will not get many page views because not many people are searching for information on old typewriters.

If you're marketing something like Hoodia then you can get thousands of page views and still not make many sales.

Articles unless they are really bad will always bring you traffic. Whether the traffic you get gets you any money is an entirely different matter.

Don't just focus on EzineArticles for getting traffic to your website.

*You can take that article put it on your blog if you have one.
*You can send your list to your blog.
*Make a short video announcement about the article then submit that video
    to video directories.
*Make a podcast and submit that podcast to the podcast directories.
*Use a tool like Onlywire to submit your content to social media sites.

I see one big problem article marketers have is thinking Ezine Articles is the
End All and Be All...I do alot of article marketing and rarely use Ezine Articles.

    Hey,

I can tell from my experience (if you're in internet marketing niche), that article directories are DEAD!

So what you should be doing?

What I do is very simple.

I write an article, find a blog that accecpts guest posts and submit my article there! In 24h I get 5-150 opt-ins! Much more effective.

Yoy may also submit your articles to popular sites in your niche. If you're in internet marketing, you may submit your articles to these sites:

    Site-Reference.com, BetterNetworker.com, BloggersBase.com, BlogEngage.com,
    and FamousBloggers.net.
