I'll tell you what has worked for me.

Lots of people will pay $5 for services like writing articles, backlink building, video creation, etc. but those things take too long. Your best bet is to sell a product whether it be some software or ebooks that you own.

Once they pay, send them to your squeeze page, have them enter their email and give them the software/book/report. Now you have them on a list and you market to them down the road. Also throw in a couple of bonuses and really make them think they are getting a great deal.

The key here is to provide either a book/software/report, or do a job that can be automated and/or fulfilled in 10 minutes or less. Make sure that when all your work in providing it is accounted for, you take less than 10 minutes per gig. If you can do this, then you're ensuring that you're making at least $20+ an hour, which is not a bad thing at all, especially if you're trying to pick up some extra cash on the side.

Right on the money Mike, the up-sell is how you make a killing. Perform your Fiverr task for your client and if possible, over-deliver. This builds trust and reputation for you on the site with good feedback and Likes. This will bring you even more orders that can be building you a hot list for up-sell services.

Fiverr and long term goal should never be used in the same sentence.

Fiverr has it's place for easy jobs and quick cash but if you're ambitions stop at $5 a gig you might as well become an virtual assistant.

Create multiple gigs. Then create some movies. Try to post your gigs on your blogs and web pages. People can click on them to order your services. Links are good to have in your gigs. They show people samples of your work and what they can expect from you. Also, this is important to making your sales increase. Get a lot of positive ratings from your users.

What type of software can you sell for $5? I mean if you write an ebook or coded a software wouldn't you sell it for more?

If you are good in front of a camera you could try doing 30 second/1 minute video reviews, from a client's script. These are becoming more popular. I recently bought a gig from a woman to do a 30 second review and she had, at that time, 22 orders in her queue. She has a sample video on her fiverr page which is an absolute order magnet because people can see immediately the quality of the video they'll get.
